Seeing that G71 7900 is out, we can assess RSX now

Recommended Posts

G71 is a derivative to G70, its the same architecture except G70 was 110nm and G71 is 90nm, G71 is also cheaper than what G70 was when it was released. It has 24 pipes and runs at 600+ Mhz with lower memory bandwidth than the G70.

So because of the fact that RSX was a derivative of G70 and 90nm , its same to assume that G71 is basically the same as G71 with a 550Mhz clock (110 less than 7900 GTX) and a lower memory bandwidth (all console cards have lower memory bandwidth than thier PC counterparts)

Its safe to assume now that the RSX is slightly lower in speed compared to G71 due to lower clockspeed but it can output nearly the same amount of shaders.
