XP Service Pack 1 Breaks the 1100 build mark

Recommended Posts

Its Beta service pack time again!

This time the service pack guys at MS have broken the eleven hundred mark. 1102, as of the time of this writing, is today's current build; 8-20-2002.

WinXP SP1 1102 comes in at 128 MB (135,165,440 bytes)

Once again, no noticeable changes have been made to the performance of our test machines over previous builds. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as we've found that the new life that SP1 breathes into XP is well worth all the builds being turned out.

As a final nears, you may want to drop by and pick up a build to try out as a test before its goes gold. Stop by the channel and we'll throw a copy your way!

Beta junkies, people who like to play with their OS, folks who like to mod system files so they can keep up on the subtle byte changes (offsets mostly) in the uxtheme.dll and sfc_os.dll files, ....and last but not least (drum roll please), people who have better and more constructive things to do, other than posting useless dribble like "like who cares" comments!

Files are hidden in klip for safety???

We like to provide real links that lead somewhere other than another site, to dl a klip. The immitation meat word is crossing my mind, but I shall refrain.

Go to driverheaven and get all of the links that are online!!

Thanks to all of you hosts out there who help to get the betas out to the masses!!!!!!!!!:)

There are plenty of patches for the uxtheme.dll. I just copied the file I had been using before updating to SP1 v.1090 and replaced it after updating. It works fine. The only thing I could not change is the boot screens, ntoskrnl.exe. They are apparently a new version and haven't been patched yet, but that's a small price to pay for the upgrade.

The uxtheme is a simple hexedit (not a recourse edit of the build number on an older file). The logins and boot screens are easy enough as well. All you need is resource hacker to swap the graphics.

Alright to defend out status with the KLIP...

Think about it like this... put a plain link to a file, it gets shut down every single time. The ISP, or MS, or someone makes them take it down.

Hide the file in the KLIP, keeps ISP's from shutting it down as easy.... and it's why we are one of the only sites with links still working, despite the fact of all the downloads. I don't care about the KLIP, but it's the best way to "hide" the files... Bink does it on WindowsXP.nu, as well as many other sites. By saftey we meant keeping the links up longer for people to download.
