i just started a class and need to install visual basic 6 student working model. I get so far in the install process, then i get errors that make no sense and setup won't continue. Tried to install in safe mode and tried setting the setup.exe compatibility to Windows 2000, to no avail.
I have posted a link to an image of the error msgs that I get everytime I try to install.
Here is the description of the install process & when the errors occur:
The installation wizard screen loads fine after opening setup.exe, I click next. I accept the EULA on second screen. Third screen Product Number & User ID, click next. Fourth screen, Common Files install folder, click next. Popup says "Starting Visual Basic 6.0 setup". Now new setup screen - VB6.0 Working Model installation program. I click "Continue". Next screen gives a product ID number. I click OK. Then I get the error popup (look at linked image).
Another important thing...I took the cd-rom to my old PC that's still running Windows ME and it installed flawlessly. Problem is I don't want to have to go to that PC everytime I have assignments. I also have a log file of the install process if that would help any1 figure this out.
btw, the first error popup says "You must first run the Installation Wizard before running this setup" in case it's too small to see.
