bayrider
Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals is projected to be the next, if not the very best thing to happen to the sport of hockey, and could be the most dominant athlete in his/her sport. Well maybe aside from Federer ;) watch this video to see why AO is Alexander the Great; Alexander Ovechkin #8 take note of the goal 1:50 into the clip
Dejon
His stick handling/puck control is amazing.
BroChaos Veteran Posted March 5, 2006 Veteran Share Posted March 5, 2006 wow, a lot of stuff on there i haven't seen before. he is by far the most talented player in hockey. unbelievable stuff. not to mention, he has what is pretty much known as the greatest goal in the history of the nhl. this kid is definitely something special. how many times did he go 1 on 3, and beat all 3 guys? bigbluepride35
Yeah, with Ovechkin and Crosby set to carry it for the next generation (and Henrik Lundqvist, gotta give it up for my man on the Rangers lol) I think the NHL is in good hands for the next decade (or more) or so. Ayepecks
I've been saying this for three years... I'm not bragging about that, I just don't see how people honestly thought Crosby was going to make more of an impact on the game.

Stokkolm
The most impressive to me was around 3:57 he shot between a defenders legs and hit the goal.
mikebiacsi
He is an amazing player, much better than Crosby IMO. Not that Crosby is crap, far from it, i just think Ovechkin (sp?) is better. There are quite a few rookies that are having outstanding seasons and im sure that will carry on for a long time.
quigley0
hehe, the only reason to be a caps fan. I've sat through many a game at the MCI center, and we've not had such an exciting player ever! Not Bondra, Jagr, or Langway. This kid is the most exciting thing ever to step into the MCI center in a hometeam jersey. That includes MJ . :)
Powa
From a person who doesn't follow the sport I thought that was awesome!. I didn't even know you could get enough control of the puck to do tricks like that.

I didn't even know you could get enough control of the puck to do tricks like that. Same for me. I saw 4 St.Louis Blues games while I was there and didn't see a player do anything like that. bayrider
It happens... its basically football/soccer on ice. Most people wouldn't think you could do similar things in football between the legs, and fakes etc... The pace is so much more faster in hockey thats all... Matrix XII
I'd take Crosby at 20 than Ovechkin at 20 as a complete package.
