Windows Messenger 4.7.0101/MSN Messenger 5.0.0527 Problems after WinX

Question

Greetings all,

On one of my machines, after I updated to WinXP SP1, the Windows Messenger 4.7.0101 was acting weird. If I right click on the system tray Windows Messenger Icon and select Sign out, it will automatically login randomly. I have removed Windows Messenger completely and then install Windows Messenger 4.5 before 4.7.0101 as the 4.7.0101 installer will crash if it runs on a system that has no previous version of Messenger installed. I installed MSN Messenger 5.0.0527 Beta last night and this time it took 20 hours before the first automatic login but then after that, every signout doesn't last more than 15 minutes before it automatically logs in again. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

No problems before it. The problem seems to be Windows Messenger 4.7.0101 since MSN Messenger 5.0.0527 runs but whenever I check www.hotmail.com, the 4.7.0101 runs in the system tray right next to the 5.0.0527 and what happens is the 4.7.0101 is logging in automatically.

I use MSN Messenger 5, and did experience Windows Messenger starting and showing in the tray when on the Hotmail page, so I went into the Messenger folder and typed... ".off" after the messenger exe. (eg. "msmsgs.off")
