They don't take kindly to "stoners"?

You get stoned all the time or something? If so, you know it's not good for ya right?

In moderation I'm sure it's OK but not all the time.

Yeah, it's not all the time. It's something I do often though. Over there, you even mention pot having positive effects on a person and they prettymuch yell blasphemy. Say you can do something fine while you're high and they retort it everytime with the clich?, "You're high, you don't know any better, you onlythink> you're doing fine."

It's real sad to see such an outstanding forum be so thick-headed about marijuana. Honestly, it feels more productive talking to a brick wall than some of the people there when it comes to pot. Oh well, I purposely discuss it with people I know are against it, so I really shouldn't complain. It's just kind of odd to me how hypocritical they are about the whole knife legalization thing, then are adamant about their views on keeping marijuana illegal.

...and police:yes::

Well, Enjoy your pot then because I feel the same as they do.

You being a pothead and having a knife on you gives us regular knife folks a bad name.

Also, are you too stupid to realize that Bladeforums is about 40% Cops and Fire/EMS people?

Later tater. I don't need ya BS.

Well I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I'm aware of their presence, yet I continue my ways. I think people like you give "knife folk" a bad name myself. Ah well, like I said at first, looks like we clearly disagree. :D

We may disagree, however whenever I get pulled over or stopped for anything by a cop I am still obeying the law. They know I have a knife on me (because I tell them) and it's totally legal.

You on the other hand would be held overnight (because of your knife) because they leave the knife laws vague in Ohio so they can hold guys like you if they are "suspicious" and want to search your car or person. In which case they would find your glass pipe and you would then be either busted for having pot or also taken to the station and given a test to see if you are high or have pot in your system.

You see, like it or not, me and cops get along real well because I obey the law.

You will not, because you're already off on a bad start by having that pipe on you and admitting to smoking pot.

Yes, you do make valid points. It's a risk I've accepted as part of my lifestyle. There aren't many ways around is aside from moving to Holland or Canada, where people don't really care what you smoke.

Speaking about Ohio knife laws, they are very poor. Haven't had any trouble so far. When I have gotten pulled over, I haven't been searched. But if an officer ever asks me about weapons on my person or asks to search me, I plan to tell him I have a folding knife on me he probably would like to inspect, while keeping my hands in clear view.

I've been stopped by cops multiple times with pipes on me, been lucky so far I guess. Always respectful and polite to them, I see little reason to do otherwise. I feel strongly enough about the issue that I accept that I'm very likely to be jailed for my habits. Just part of the package I suppose. It helps that I'm a superb driver, stoned or sober.

Either way, I doubt the cops here would hold me overnight for a folder. Especially since I stay away from iffy things...assisted openings, serrations, switchblades, double-edged blades, fixed blades (For daily carry at least) etc. I did ask people at the police station to clarify the laws somewhat, and they said that any concealed knife could present a problem. I use the pocket clips on my knife so they are visible, and all my EDC blades are under 3.5 inches. I feel I'm reasonable with my knife selection, hopefully any cops who inspect them will agree. :)

Well, I'm a strange one myself, but I believe that one should be allowed to own just about any weapon he chooses outside of a beltfed machine gun or missile.

If I wanted to carry a sword, I should be allowed to, or if I felt better with a throwing axe, I should be allowed to carry that. It's absolutely silly that I could get a permit for a handgun yet couldn't carry a sword. That said I think my right to carry something doesn't usurp any establishment or property owners right to decide what I carry while on their premises.

I do think the laws against switchblades and butterfly knives is pretty retarded considering that all these one-handed folders are just as quick yet legal just because they don't carry the same stigma as butterfly knives or switchblades.

Well said.

If you look at those knives, they have a hook near where the blade pivots. This is called a "wave" and the way it works is by hooking on your pocket when you pull it out to use. These can actually be deployed faster than some switchblades, and they're legal.

Not to mention how easily someone can become proficient with a more standard one handed opener, such as the Spyderco Endura.

Knives should be completely banned except for militairy, rescue workers etc.

Lol, that's rediculous. First off, for weapons sake there's nothing stopping a evildoer from just using kitchen knives as weapons if pocket knives were banned, second, and I hate saying this as a gun owner, is that owning both a gun and several knives my knife has gotten tons of usage to the point where I've had to resharpen it several times. While I've never had to use my gun as a tool I use my knife all the time, and neither of my guns or knives have ever been used on a person. I used it just in school

Lastly, my knife has saved my life, or at least kept me from injury during one occasion, just because I was in the military at the time doesn't mean other people don't have that very same basic right.
