I filled my tank yesterday at $3.01 for unleaded premium. It went up today to $3.03 at the same station, so it looks like I saved around 16 cents.

My car tank is about empty any second. I heard petrol prices are up around $1.50 now. Man these prices are insane. I remember the good ol' days when we only pay 80cents a litre. I doubt that the price will go back down. Looks like we will hit $2 by next year at this pace.

I have just done a quick calculation based on the price I pay in the UK for a litre of diesel. This is about $6.80 per gallon! At least my car does about 50 miles per gallon so I only have to fill up about every fortnight.

Any other UK based motorists should check out the Pipeline Card from the link in my sig - it's still being finalised but will offer a discount on fuel for all members when launched...

How many people complaining about the price of fuel drive too fast (burning more fuel) or drive uneconomical vehicles (SUVs etc)?

It's $2.89 on the Illinois side of the river, $2.69 - $2.79 on the Iowa side of the river. It's worth it to drive the extra few miles for me :p Besides, I'm over there enough as it is anyway.

$3.20 in Nothern Cali.

You think that this was a move by the gas/oil companies to reduce the clean air regulations in the US? And even if they do reduce the regulation i dont see prices dropping by that much. Want something done take action, increase prices and lobby for less clean air regulations, win both ways (April became the biggest profits for gas companies). Bush was never going to increase taxes on oil companies, being an oil man himself.

But we still pay the least compared to the rest of the world

Lets all buy used motorcycles, my dad's friend was trying to sell me one for $1,500, nice 55 miles per gallon

Oil has to be shipped half way around the world in a ship that cost a quarter of a billion dollars to make. It then gets refined in billion dollar refineries, shipped by special trucks to local gas stations where it is stored in vastly expensive, environmentally friendly underground tanks where it waits patiently for me. For this potentially limited resource, I pay $2.79 a gallon.

However you look at it, all that transportation and storage has already more than enough been paid for. A long time ago.

The prices of fuel are high because the oil companies can get away with it. They know the vast majority of people rely on it. We're stuck. I know it, you know it, and they know it. Also compounded by the fact that there are so many freaking taxes levied on a gallon of gas.

I though the prices here were high until I saw people from other countries posting the equivalent of $5.70 a gallon. The sh!t is crazy.

Bush was never going to increase taxes on oil companies, being an oil man himself.

Because Bush like all polititions are crooked and greedy. Bush just plain sucks a$$ anyway.

The prices are crazy right now :( Always hurts to fill up the 36 gallon fual tank of the car, and then to put your foot down and watch the fuel guage fall rapidly.. End up spending over $160 (AUD) each time! The prices we are paying for fuel here are equal to $3.94 per gallon! You guys have it lucky there

do you really think bush has that much control over oil prices? most of the worlds largest oil reserves aren't even being developed by u.s companies.. opec if anything has the u.s by the balls. They do control over 2/3 of the worlds oil supply and average around 50% of the world supply on a daily basis. Thats a lot of leverage on a country that consumes oil on a 3:1 ratio over any other country in the world.

sure he can dump some of your guys reserve into the national market but it would barely put a dent in your demand and katrina showed that. and most of your crude reserves aren't even of that high quality streams.

taxation on gas and oil is where the u.s government makes its oil revenues from and most of that is directly sent back to the companies in the means of tax cuts or development and exploration grants. cutting them would just shoot themself in the foot.

the only way gas prices can drop anytime soon, is if. Iran stops enrichment, U.S pulls out of iraq.

Paid $8.00 a gallon in London yesterday :(

What you're failing to realize is we have the right to complain. I cannot compare the cost of gas in my town to that of another city, state or country without full knowledge of the cost of living vs. average family income.

For example, Hawaii pays over $5.00 for a gallon of milk. Here, I pay $3.12. Here, the average hourly income is around $19 an hour. There, it may be $22 an hour. So, even though the price of milk in Hawaii seems extreme to me, it basically is the same percentage of one's hourly income.

Same applies for gas. EVERYONE has the right to complain because they are seeing how the cost per gallon (or litre) is effecting their income level.

So, there is no bragging on who has the right to complain - everone's average household income is different, and everyone's local gas price is different.

Costs me $30 to fill my car.

$2.85/gallon

When you are used to paying less than $20 for gas, paying $30 makes you want to throw a brick through someones window.

I'm also paying around 30 to fill up, a friend of mine has a lawn care business and he fills up his massive truck, lawn mowers, weed eaters, blowers, etc every day if not mulitple times in a day. I thought i noticed a big differance but he is really affected.
