modem
With the rising cost of Microsoft products and their new "call home" features, many people are looking for an alternative OS solution. Go with Apple? Can't without buying a new $2,000 mac. Go with FreeBSD? Can't unless you are a engineer of Unix. How about Desktop/LX? What's Desktop/LX you ask? Desktop/LX is the new distribution of linux from Lycoris, formerly known as the Redmond Linux Group. Modemnet Technologies has written an indepth review of Lycoris's Desktop/LX which modemnet considers the first true desktop linux. "When Linux was developed, it was created to be an alternative solution to the popular and costly Unix operating system, which ran most of the servers at that time. Since then Linux has become the second most popular server operating system (OS) behind Windows NT/2000 as well as now being used to power everything from PDA's to internet appliances. But amidst the recent Linux explosion many people have wondered where does Linux fit into the desktop market."
