Scorbing
2003 for me :D Because it's fast and it's never crashed (for me, before people say anything) Although I believe 2007 is better. How can you say 2007 is better when its not even out yet?
markwolfe Veteran Posted April 11, 2006 Veteran Share Posted April 11, 2006 How can you say 2007 is better when its not even out yet? Well, that's obvious! "2007" is more than "2003", so the logical conclusion is that it must also be better. ;)

Barney T. Administrators Posted April 11, 2006 Administrators Share Posted April 11, 2006 Well, I think Office 2003 has more bells and whistles...... as well as being better integrated with the whole MS Office and Windows experience. Do I use it.... NO. I do not because I do not want to pay big bucks for it. And I do not want to feed into the whole MS machine. Open Office does all that I need...... I do not need 50 +/- toolbars to do the tasks that I need doing......... This is only my opinion and mine alone. Barney
+John. Subscriber¹ Posted April 11, 2006 Subscriber¹ Share Posted April 11, 2006 I believe overall that 2007 is a better product than 2003. Obviously it isn't out yet so I'd have no idea of what it's like... It's quicker, more responsive, the UI is fresh, and the ribbon is a definate improvement over having 30+ toolbars. Granted it took me a couple of days to figure out where everything was, but after that, it was great. Roll on Public Beta (Y) Anyway, to rule out any more diversion, I'm still sticking with my original decision, 2003 (Y)
Angel Blue01
OpenOffice.org Its all I need and i can distribute it for free.
WolfieZero
I have both MSO2003 and OOo2 and I like OOo2 more. Not 100% sure why, but I think it's due to the fact that I have a vast option of file types to save as (such as the Oasis standard which I force my lecturers at Uni to use!) and export as Adobe without any third-parties. To save as a .doc format in OOo2 takes a moment longer than MSO2003 but I normally save to the native .odt which I like. I suppose for me, OOo2 has everything I need. MSO2003 maybe good if it had features I'd use in it, but I don't. Plus, OOo2 comes with a math program which is a life saver!!!
Tech_Dude_5000
Office 2003 , because, there are a lot more apps. that office 2003 has, then open office, and plus office has been around a lot longer then open office. so ya, office 2003 is my choice
Echilon
I'm enjoying Office 12 ATM, but it needs some serious bug fixing before release.
Slimy
Actually I'm using office 2007 and I'm liking it very much  It's very good that open office is out there however, microsoft needs some competition for their office suite.
MLIFE
I love the export PDF in open office but that is not enough in how office 2003 trumps open office for tablet pc usage.
foxconn287
Office 2003 HANDS down. OpenOffice doesn't even come close.

Matt T
I'm using OpenOffice because it's free, but I prefer Office.
Hurmoth
Office 2003, and Office 2007 when it is release. A much better product than OpenOffice.org.
gigapixels Veteran Posted April 18, 2006 Veteran Share Posted April 18, 2006 Office. It's a much more polished product and has a lot more features. I have no doubt that with some more work OpenOffice could easily rival Office, but for now I'm much more comfortable in Office and it "feels" a lot better to work with. That being said, I hardly ever use it anyway :p
one321
Free is good especially when it is a good contender to the pay version. However, I have used Office 2003 plenty and I have been using the Office 12 beta since it came out and I would have to say I would always chose MS Office over Open Office. I like OO, but there are tons of little things that annoy me or little things that I miss. Office gets my vote.
MrA
OpenOffice. The export to PDF features is a MUST for me. Also, there's no feature in Office 2003 that I'll use that's not in OOo. And there's the minor detail that I run Linux :p
EZRecovery
OpenOffice. The export to PDF features is a MUST for me. Yeap. I said the same thing on page 1. The export to PDF is a great feature in OpenOffice that Office 2003 does not have. /EZ

User6060
In my opinion. Office12>Office 2003>Office '97 = OpenOffice and Office 2007 has native .pdf and .docx so I have no problems with file types.
primexx
So far I have not found a bug in OpenOffice. It does everything that Office2003 does and MORE. For example, if you have a word document that would like to convert to PDF you will probably get Adobe full version. I know there are other small programs out there that can convert, but the most known program is Adobe. Anyway, with OpenOffice you can convert it and you do not need to buy an extra program to do that. Yes, I do use Office2003 because since I work for a college, I'm allow to install it on my personal computer, but my other computers I have OpenOffice. Why pay $600 for Office 2003 full version?, when you can make a small donation and still not going over $600. /EZ you've just refuted yourself within 1 post... MS Office for me, it's byfar the best office suite I've seen.
