ryanmcv
I just took a look over at the Windows Media Download Page, and amazingly enough, I saw this: Windows Media Player 9 Series Beta (for Windows XP) - updated build 2800 Get fast and flexible playback with the best audio and video quality for Windows and the Web. Includes special new features optimized for Windows XP. Read more about the updated build 2800 in the release notes. This build apparently fixes reported issues related to personal firewalls and surround sound speaker settings, according to the release notes. There doesn't seem to be an updated version for Windows 98, ME, and 2000. Grab this new build below! - Download Windows Media Player 9 Build 2800 @ Windows Media Download Page (Source: ieXbeta)

ryanmcv
This build is indeed newer than 2848. I have heard that 2848 is just a hacked build of 2798 :paranoid:
