Hardware Change

Microsoft is changing the internal structure of the Xbox in an effort to discourage hackers and lower the cost of manufacturing Xbox units.

A spokesperson from Microsoft, Molly O'Donnell, has confirmed that the company has altered the console's configuration with the intent to "increase security and reduce overall costs." The Xbox's BIOS has been replaced with a new type, and the console's internal cooling fan has been removed entirely.

The changes were first noticed in Australia, where it was learnt all currently available mod chips are useless. O'Donnell added that Xbox assembly plants in China and Mexico will be quick to follow suit.
