gigapixels Veteran Posted April 17, 2006 Veteran Share Posted April 17, 2006 Yeah, I know, nobody likes these pronunciation threads, but I am truly curious. So, how do you pronounce Serial ATA / SATA? I personally say "Serial ATA" myself, but I hear customers sometimes call it "sat-uh" or "say-tah", which personally I feel sounds stupid. (Seriously, do you call Parallel ATA "pat-uh" or "pay-tah"?) But that's just me. Anyway, I'm sure I'll get flamed for starting a poll like this since there are some people on here that seem to get offended at purely curious questions, but this isn't really for them. hotdog666al
"S.A.T.A"
Umbrello
When it's spelled out, Serial ATA, I pronounce it as it is. "Serial Ay-Tee-Ay" When it's just SATA, I pronounce it "Say-Tuh". Simple.
betasp
I tend to say Serial Ay-Tee-Ay, but other people say Saytah.

Vice
Depends. If I'm in a rush to explain something, I'll say SATA (sat-ah), if not Serial A.T.A.

Laurë Veteran Posted April 20, 2006 Veteran Share Posted April 20, 2006 Sarta is how I would pronounce sata I think. Or I would just say serial ATA
Daninku
Serial ATA (Serial Ay-Tee-Ay) or SATA (S-A-T-A) ... but in this case I don't spell A as Ay but A like the 'u' of the word 'bus'. That's how we pronounce the 'A' here so I spell it this way... although it's an English word :p and I agree that I should spell it Say-Tah... but I never heard anyone pronouncing it like this so....
