sharpy2k4
Right, first thing, if you don't approve of me drinking at my age (just turned 17) then don't bother posting no offence, but im not here to get a moral judgement given or whatever. Anyway, like i said im 17, and me and my mates get together each weekend to get drunk and have a good time, and normally i get 5 big red square bottles (or Smirnoff Ice/Wkd type drinks), which are ?1.98 in Asda. I aim to spend ?10 a weekend, as i dont have a job yet, but as i have had that for ages im kinda getting "immune" to it. i bought a crate of beer for ?11, and that lasted me 3 days, but i didnt get really drunk either time, im just hoping to look for suggestions on what drinks i could buy? I can manage Vodka, but i prefer that as a post-tipsy drink, cause of the taste, and if i get it, can anyone recommend how much should be mixed with coke etc? Has anyone tried "Mickey Finns" schnapps like drink at ?5 a bottle it seems worth getting two, but if i dont like it or whatever then im kinda screwed. So yeah? any suggestions please
Jason S. Global Moderator Posted April 26, 2006 Global Moderator Share Posted April 26, 2006 id say bite the bullet and stay away from those sugary drinks. schnapps, smirnoff ice... those things. get some hard liquor and mix it. vodka goes well w/ any fruit flavored drink. whiskey goes well with colas like Coke, Diet Rite, Dr. Pepper, etc. otherwise i suggest just get some cheap, easy drinking beer and drink away (Y)

Pharos
whats the legal drinking age in the UK?
sharpy2k4
18 is legal age in Uk to drink and buy alcohol, but i give my parents money and they buy my (at least they know what im drinking and how much) drink and about 10 of us sit in my mates house, play video games, watch a movie, or have a BBQ so its nothing like majorly illegal as we are on private property. I would say ive been casually drinking since i moved back to where i live now (i moved away then came back due to dad being in Navy) and that was in August, we stopped during the winter, but have started again. I would say i am a responsible drinker, i have never been paraletic, or been sick, i have had one major hangover and that was New Years and i drunk **** loads. Its just recentley i havent been getting drunk where i actually enjoy myself, ive just been kinda tipsy or still sober where i can recognise exactly what im doing and i am in control, i just want to get drunk enjoy myself, and loosen up, and hopefully stop realising what im doing. And Brodel, cheers for the comment, like i said at beginning if you dont approve dont post?!
skorpian
 17 is legal in the UK ? 18 Here most people start drinking at around 15 or 16...
ToneKnee
The legal buying age is 18, but you can drink as young as 14 i believe but only if you their is a person 18 or older saying you can drink at their house or whatever. If they are drinking at a house and the parents to the guardian is ok with drinking, then its perfectly fine. As for getting drunk, stay awak from WKD, like someone said, its just sugary crap and won't get you anywhere fast. Jack Daniels is where you want to head! ;) A bit expensive might i had, but if you buy it with coke and 1/2 JD and Coke in a glass, its really nice. Gets me topsy quite badly at 6/7 drinks give or take, 10+ to get me drunk, 12 or more will get me dancing on tables! :p
NoneAvail
like Jdawg863 said, mix it up... I drink Whiskey with Coke.... goes down pretty good for me... Also Raki it's a turkish hard liquor, simular to vodka, goes good with redbull, also vodka goes good with it.. I like to drink Whiskey with coke, Vodka with Grape juice, Raki with redbull. :)
Cosmos
A full bottle of strong red wine should do the trick.
jokeripa
18 Here most people start drinking at around 15 or 16... More like 13/14! Anyway, if you want to get drunk, dont waste your time on alcopops. Buy some vodka and mix with anything you want, keep it 40%/60% though :p

Brodel
And Brodel, cheers for the comment, like i said at beginning if you dont approve dont post?! It's not that I don't approve, I don't really mind about how old you are and you never needed to say your age in the first place but you did twice. To be honest your second post did make me feel like I'd jumped the gun as you've said you do drink responsibly, it just didn't seem like you did from the first post. It's just annoying when drinking just to get drunk seems to be seen as such a 'cool' thing and the only way to have fun, but like I said if that isn't the case with you then I apologise. sharpy2k4
i think this weekend ill buy a large bottle of Smirnoff Red Label and that would last me a good 2/3 weekends worth of drinking. mix that with pepsi or coke if i have a standard plastic bottle, can anyone recommend the quantities, when im sober i cant stand the taste of the vodka, but once ive had a few, im fine! Brodel - ok man, its ok, i just had something else to sort out during first post so i kept it shorter, than putting the two together :) was thinking of getting mum to buy me this http://www.asda.com/asda_shop/rc04_product...s=I&on_promo=No
Buttus
for the sweeter side, i'd go with either jack daniels and coke or capt morgans spiced rum and coke, or even vodka and orange juice... then to get rid of the sweetness, have a gin and grapefruit juice... Pharos
strawberry vodka (has to be cold) with some cherries on the bottom of the drink, and some whipped cream on the top! :woot:
skorpian
More like 13/14! I was trying to be generous ;) Well most of the 14 year olds are just wasters who get drunk (or pretend to) on a wee bottle of wkd. whipped cream
Xeron
The law as I know it, under 5 years old, giving any alcohol to a child is illegal. This includes stuff like mouthwash. So those parents that quietened kids who were teething with a finger of brandy are breaking the law. After that, in a private residence is OK but there is such a thing as parental responsibility so if you get your 5 year old drunk you're not likely to be in charge of that child for very long. Once you're fourteen, you can have a drink in a pub as long as it is with a meal, although it is quite uncommon for a pub to allow this these days. Most pubs will insist you are 18. 18 is the legal drinking age. At this point you can drink what you like and buy it for yourself. However, some 16 year olds look over 18 and some 21 year olds look under 18. A lot of pubs now require you to look over 21 or have ID, and in good places, the ID they require is not cheap if you wish to fake it. Oh and on topic... Case of beer over 3 days? I guess that's 24x440ml cans = 6.1 pints a day. Should get you somewhere if it's grolsch, kronenberg or stella. Otherwise, why are you asking about how much vodka to coke? As much as you can stand surely? Edited April 26, 2006 by Xeron

skorpian
in good places, the ID they require is not cheap if you wish to fake it. sorry for the big array of posts here (: here they accept a photocopied version of your passport, apparently it's perfectly legal, so most people just scan their passports and change the date of birth (and check code thingey). i've never been questioned on it. sharpy2k4
last house party we had properly, the neighbours didnt complain but some old couple with "babies" (probably pet names for their pets) complained and they were baout 500meters away, was crazy weird. ^^ Straight Vodka, cant drink!, in Tenerife i had too much of it,it was ?8 for a Litre of Red Label, so i bought 2 that lasted me 8 days. -=SD=-
Most mixed drinks mentioned are good (coke and rum, vodka and oj).. you should also try coconut rum and cranberry, I've been kind of hooked on that as my choice in drink lately, it's pretty good.
