+Warwagon MVC Posted May 5, 2006 MVC Share Posted May 5, 2006 I know alot of people on neowin do use an illegal version of windows, but if you could buy just 1 copy of XP and legally install it on every machine in hour house, would you do it? HellBender
From my school's MSDNAA, I get a free ulimited use copy of XP Pro SP2 Corporate with a key and everything. With my laptop, I got a free version of XP Pro as well. And yet, both are running pirated copies. Its just for convenience. To get the disk from MSDNAA, I have to remember the site, remember my password, log in, find the software, find the key, and then download it. Rather, I can go to a torrent site that I visit every day (and so I remember it easier) to download it, stick it into uTorrent, and finish the process a bit faster. Rudy
most of the time pirating is alot more convenient, i know i did it for my old laptop even though it came with Windows preloaded....just because it was easier than removing all the crap the OEM had on there. Same thing with my gf's laptop, as soon as she got it, she asked me to reload windows
+Warwagon MVC Posted May 5, 2006 Author MVC Share Posted May 5, 2006 i'd buy it in a heart beat
killmaster84
Its cheaper just to download it.
whitebread
Of course I'd buy it... Microsoft probably wouldn't notice if I pirated Windows, but that wouldn't make it right (or legal). Granted, I don't pay for Windows now (my brother has MSDN :D ) but I would buy it if I had to choose between buying and pirating.

L3thal Veteran Posted May 5, 2006 Veteran Share Posted May 5, 2006 Its cheaper just to download it. Its also cheaper to run in a clothing store and steal clothes ;) I buy all my copies of Windows, so if there was an option of "I buy it anyway", that would be my choice

Lee G. Veteran Posted May 5, 2006 Veteran Share Posted May 5, 2006 I would definitely buy it if I could legally do that :) (Providing the price isn't (much) more)
n30w1n
This isn't really an issue for me since I run exclusively laptops at home, all of which come with Windows preloaded

mAcOdIn Veteran Posted May 5, 2006 Veteran Share Posted May 5, 2006 Just a heads up, you can't talk about actually warezing on this forum so no talk about doing that. Don't want to have to start sending out warnings.

shihchiun
If I could install it on as many PCs as needed (like a corp copy), yes, I'd buy it. I'd probably buy a copy for every PC if I didn't have to deal with the stupid activation crap.
markwolfe Veteran Posted May 5, 2006 Veteran Share Posted May 5, 2006 There is a "yes", a "definitely yes", "yes, no matter how many licenses" and a "I'll pirate". :ermm: I would be a "no" answer, regardless of how many (or few) licenses came with it. Night.Hawk
I buy it anyway no matter what, but I only have 1 computer so it doesn't matter. The rest of my family can just live in the past if they don't want to upgrade.
Nashy
I have a legit corp copy thanks to my old work. Don't think its actually legal now, but I use it. I also have legit Pro on my laptop.
