Luck...personally, I think it's a myth perpetuated over throughout history til it became part of our culture. Every now and then, even the most intellectual people will tell me to watch out for bad luck or to find myself a good luck charm.

I think this BS has gone far enough!

People really should open their eyes and look at the world. Nothing happens by coincidence. It's all a matter of probability. Someone who wins the lottery isn't "lucky", he's just the inevitable result of statstics...whatever the probablity may be.

I can see why we see that people who are forunate enough to win that lottery should be labelled, but for this guy to be labelled "lucky", others should be labelled as "unlucky", which is very crude...999 out of 1000 people are unlucky because they didn't win the lottery?!

Another thing, breaking a mirror, walking under a ladder, seeing a black cat etc... IMO, this is pure BS at the core!

We have become very guilible over the years, and it shows. But for Snopes.com, we'd all be beliving stupid rumors like the ones that come in our Emails....Doctor Martin Smith who has Phd in whatever whatever, after conducting scientfic studies on 100 zillion people and some sort of unknown animal , has come up with conclusions that are bound to stun us all...we use only 10% of our brains (which is BS)!!!!!!!! Add a few big words here and there and we have it, a rumor that everyone belives is true...It becomes the "everybody knows" rumor, which makes me sick. "We use 10% of our brains...everybody knows that"

Anyways, that's my opinion.

Simple, I walways put it this way.

I don't believe in luck perse but I believe luck as a combination. For example, someone won a lottery 2 times hehe, it's not that there is something special, it's just a combination which we call luck heh.

There is indeed no such thing as luck.

Superstitions regarding bad luck are also nonsensical.

I for one deliberately do things that are considered bad luck (w-laking under ladders, opening umbrellas in the house [smashing mirrors would get expensive]) and i'm one on the "luckiest" people I've ever heard of.

Things, events happen or are allowed to happen because of the decree of our Creator, it's as simple as that. I know full well people disagree harshly with this view, but i'm not the only one...

There is a wisdom in ALL events, even those considered "bad" or "horrendous" etc..... Even those who don't profess a faith know all about clouds and their "silver linings".

It's all a matter of perspective (or perspex). Look at the world through a pink sheet of perspex and it will, in it's entirety, look pink. In the same way, people allpy filters to the world and interpret in through these. Good fortune is a perception, not a reality that can be commonly shared.

Ideally, we'd all be able to not use any "perspex" at all, but being creatures of habit and conditioning, it's almost impossible not to. It's a shame that the "perspex" most people are conditioned to use is grey and warped, their views of the world being gloomy and distorted. A great deal shrug off this filter to some extent, the lucky replace it completely with something clearer.....

I'd say there is no such thing as luck, instead there is good fortune.... And to me, anything that happens is a blessing worthy of gratitude.

Nothing magical about "luck". It's simply a word used to describe individual levels of coincidence.

Lucky = having been fortunate by means of random chance.

Put like that, I can't disagree.

It's when people think there is some magical quality and that it can be altered by stupid things like rabbit feet or breaking mirrors that I get annoyed.

I do think we can influence the good or bad things that happen in our lives, but I think it requires direct action such as living safely and healthily to have a long and active life, or revising for exams in order to do well, and having a positive 'help myself' attitude when dealing with set backs instead of making things worse for yourself.
