.gov domains

Question

atomicski

If I were not in the u.s and went to nsa.gov or something like that would it go to the nsa website? Are the .gov domains just for u.s. use or do other governments use them as well?

.EDU, .INT, .MIL and .GOV have restrictive conditions on who can register names in those domains (respectively, four-year degree granting institutions in North America, organisations that were established by international treaty, the USA military, and the USA federal government).

Since the US government literally owns the internet, I think only they have access.
