Converting Dishnetwork DVR TO HD

Recommended Posts

Okay where to start.

I have a westinghouse 32" tv in my room.

I recently purchased a cable for my PS2 for the YPbPr input and i have noticed a GREAT change in picture quality.

Now I want to connect my DISH Player-DVR 625 to the same output but i can't find the right cable.

I was looking for a cable that converts from AV to YPbPr but I can not seem to find one.

There are no HD outputs from the dish player so i can't look for anything else.

Any ideas?

and one more quiestion to those who have the same dish player.

I ordered a usb cable today Male(a) to Male(a)

Can i just connect that to my iBook and transfer the shows from the DVR onto my computer.

I wanted to burn all the world cup games on dvd.

Alright I kinda of understand.

But when I upgraded my PS2 it did a lot of good since it supports it?

The only way to get nice HD picture is to upgrade to a HD receiver.?

There goes another $500 :(

thats because the output at the back can output composite or component signal depending on the cables. but you dish box only does composite and not component

I'm back with one more question.

Okay,

So my cable came in today for my DVR.

a USB Male to Male

I connected it to the back and then connected the other end to my ibook.

when I got to Menu and Multimedia I get and error saying there is no multimedia device connected to the USB port.

are there any drivers I need for my ibook or there is no way i can get those 2 things to connect together?

Hey Quick Shot, the DISH Player-DVR 625 does not output through component, so buying any sort of adapter to go from composite to component would not help the picture quality. As previously stated you would need a HD receiver to output in component or better. What you can do however, is use an S-Video cable for improved picture quality over a composite cable. The DISH Player-DVR 625 does output through S-Video cable, and they shouldn't be too expensive at Radio Shack if you have one in your area.
