EGM Wii Rumours - Devs Ditch PS3 In Favour Of Wii

Recommended Posts

The latest issue of EGM contains a couple very juicy rumors in their rumor section. Take these with a smaller grain of salt then usual?EGM does have an ear very close to the ground.

The biggest rumor from EGM?s rumor section is that many third party developers are ditching their PS3 projects in favor of the Wii. This change can most likely be attributed to a combination of a strong Wii showing at E3, and the high pricepoint of the PS3.

LucasArts is hearing the cries of Wii fans everywhere. A rumored Star Wars game is coming to the Wii (exclusive), and lightsaber battles will be the main focus of the title.

Once again, these are just rumors for now?but two rumors that I would love to come true.

Interesting news. I wanna purchase both, so not sure if I should be pleased or not lol. Well, PS3 will have a lot of quality titles anyway, but more for Wii is great.

If true, this is really great news for Nintendo. It is sooooo important for a console's success to have strong developer support. The Gamecube didn't have it, and that's why it was 3rd in the last gen. If the Wii gets strong developer support, I can see Nintendo getting back to #1 this gen.

Wii seems to be getting amazing support now. Like the good old SNES days. Good for Nintendo.

I'd like a lightsaber game, I'm sure LucasArts figures it has to make one also, cause of the controller.

The latest issue of North America's multi-format gaming magazine, Electronic Gaming Monthly, is now available to buy and Cubed? has the information from the publication's rumour column. Check out the ones that directly, or could indirectly relate to Nintendo, below:

  • Harmonix is working on a new music game;
  • LucasArts is developing a Star Wars game for Nintendo's Wii, in which there are fights with a light sabre;
  • Star Wars Battlefront is being worked on for Next Generation consoles, yet Pandemic is not involved this time.

Make of those what you will, but a light sabre Star Wars game on the Wii was rumoured before E3, during E3 and now after E3. It makes too much sense for it not to happen. Also, could we see the return of Burnout to Nintendo this time? And what are your thoughts on Third Parties already shifting focus to the Wii?

Geeks around the world rejoice! Time to put those moves to the test :p.

Wow here is what the magazine says:

.....But don't think you are the only ones ****ed off about the price; I hear several publishers were more than irate after hearing the announcement from Sony. What does that mean? Well do you like Nintendo? Publishers do-you may start getting a lot more games on the Wii, thanks to its cheapo development costs.

Where do it says there are shifting, from what I can tell it says the publishers (note: not developers) are mad about the PS3 cost. And the Wii will likely get more games because of its cheap development costs.
