And about the great features that mac has. I don't see any good reason to use the instant search because i keep my files organised. And I'm not that stupid to misplace any important file on my pc.

Spotlight isn't about locating files (although it does that very well), it's about locating specific data within files. Do you know the exact content of every single file on your system? Spotlight does. Would you be able to locate in an instant every file on your system that mentions "Windows" (for example)? Spotlight can.

Also, I don't see as much software available for a mac as you have for windows. And what about the masive amount of drivers and hardware which are available for windows and 99% of them run perfectly. Apple is no where near microsoft in this matter.

Do you actually believe that Microsoft or Apple write most of their own drivers? Guess what, they don't, other than the generic stuff (keyboards, mice, drives, etc.). Most other drivers are written by the hardware makers, so it's those companies that are to blame for lack of OS X support for their hardware, not Apple. The same pretty much goes for software too. For pretty much any Windows program, I can find something for OS X that does the same thing. Just because Windows has 15 programs that do the same thing (CD burning programs for example), and the Mac has only a couple doesn't really mean much when you consider that those couple of Mac programs do pretty much everything that the 15 Windows programs do.

And the programs and the capabilities of developing programs on an apple machine don't compare to microsoft. On windows you have .net,winfx(vista) and a lot of developing tools.

I take it you've never used XCode, which is, IMHO much nicer than Microsoft's development suite, and XCode is FREE.

Good Lord. After wading through 14 pages of arguments I still can't believe it hasn't already been said:

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Noone ever wins these subjective OS/Desktop beauty contests. All we learn is what each person likes and dislikes and it usually runs the thread right into the ground.

I agree. After using OSX for over a week I have to say OSX is much more nice UI over Windows. It's all really up to the person using the system. There is never going to be a settlement over which is better. That is the reason why people have different opinions and tastes. The End.

Never ending battle...Linux vs. Windows vs. Mac's. It's life. None of us are ever going to have one universal operating system we all know and love.

If you look at the "Phone Monitor Options" and "Adobe Gamma" icons, they themselves say OSX is better looking. I'am a PC user, and frankly i dont give a dam how the control panel looks.

Well at least you didn't use non Micrososft icons added by 3rd party applications to complain about... oh wait.. neither of those two icons are standard windows xp control panel icons...

and for the XCode thing... I don't care abotu XCode since I'll never be usign it, but if XCode is so good why's everyoen raving about micrososfts Visual studio suit then and I've never even heard of Xcode before. While I believe VS.net has won several awards for beign the best

oh and about free. Look up visual studio Express editions.

The best part about the Vista control panel is the search functionality.

Spotlight in System Preferences is pretty slick, and looks cool. But it's not nearly as functional. The search in the Vista control panel not only responds as you type, but it actually surfaces items that otherwise would be multiple clicks away including descriptions of specific tasks you can perform. It's one of my favorite new features actually because it just works so well (for novice and advanced users alike).

There are some bugs though... in the currently released builds the search functionality doesn't work very well if you switch to Classic View, but I'm sure that will get fixed.

I'm really surprised that an OS that has been around for years is still better looking than a new OS. Compare Vistas Control Panel to OS X Sysrem Preferences. I'n my opinion at least, OS X's System Preferences is much easier on the eyes. You be the judge:

I'm really surprised that an OS that has been around for years still doesn't have support %95 of the worlds applications. If it's such a bad ass OS then why does no one develope for it?

Are you kidding me?

You want valid statement?

Go look at the apple computer specs...and you will find that it runs on CRAPPPPPY HARDWARE!

If you're willing to spend $xxxx dollars on the crap like that...you have to be retard.

Their iMac cost around $1300-$1400 money...and it's basically crap. For that money you can build kick ass PC machine which will smoke apple counterpart in every aspect.

Am I talking here about Mac OS? Noooo. If you're making sign = between Mac OS and Apple Computer itself(Hardware in it) then you're a moron too...

And again I'm not talking here about Mac OS...it's operating system which ironically runs better on my PC then on apple computer

That bold part is very true. OS X on mine smokes any Apple hardware.

I'm definitely going to have to agree with you...I did some random searches: firewall, colors, security, hardware, etc. How Vista handles the searching may not have the same 'cool' factor as Spotlight, but it's certainly more practical and useful.

Because Apple limits it to only mac hardware, well at least that's what they say :innocent:

Microsoft just needs to call in some 3rd-party visual design specialists or something, because on a whole, Vista looks like hammered sh*t. The control panel is just an extension of a much larger problem; there is just too much crap *everywhere* in Vista. It looks like an unorganized mess.

I have to agree with you... I'm a hardcore windows user, but I have to say that the worst aspect of windows is design. They seem to like bloated interface with big round buttons... it's annoying. Just look at Vista! why is this new round, crystal blue orb there? it doesn't make sense... to me at least. They also adopted that in the new office suite. The main menu is now accessible from a giant orb at the top left.... it's ****in dumb.

BUT, as for the ease of use, for me, windows is by far the winner. Each and everytime I had to work on final cut at university and then using photoshop at the same time just drove me completely nuts. I just can't get use to the "no background" apps method. All in all, - and it's not like i'm not trying, I have to use macs from time to time -, I just want to kill myself. Anyone ever used Maya on a mac??? YARRRRRRGGHHHHH... I was also using Shake a lot in the past, but damn Eyeon Fusion on PC is soooo good now, that I just gave up on Shake.

Sorry for getting a little out of topic in the last paragraph, but, for me, themed with Royale Vista skin :) XP is just a marvelous workhorse. It clears out the bloatiness of windows default theme and makes things a lot "clearer".

Though, guess what screen i'm using? 20'cinemadisplayfromappleforme :D

if you need a new screen, and you have the cash, do yourself a threat and buy it... it's a wonderful screen

I agree that the orb is wierd in Office...but I kinda like it in Vista. When you expand your start menu to 2 lines, like I always do, it looks much better than a 'start' button.

Yes you can. In fact, MS has a chart. comparing it to Visual Studio 2005 standard, you'll fine these are the only limitations, none of which are that big:

No mobile device

only local DB tools (Can program for remote, but can only use the built in tools for local)

no class designer/object test bench

No macros/add-ins or packages

no source control

no x64 compiling

The big difference is that you have seperate IDEs for each language....they're all pretty much the same, though. You have to install: Web developer for asp.net, C# for C#, vb for vb, C++...

^ although you can run php and sql on a mac, the webobjects is like $700, so w/ .net you kinda get a better package it seems compared to just xcode :shifty:
