like Syphonic said, the 70-300 has a 1:2 macro feature that the 75-300mm doesn't have.

Also, the 70-300 has been released last February of 2006 and the 75-300mm is older lens. The 75-300mm lens is made for any SLR, and the 70-300mm lens is DI, which means "Digitally Integrated" and will only work hooked on a DSLR
