Motherboard kills display on boot into Windows

Recommended Posts

This motherboard is from a computer i built for a co-worker. Via K7VT4A Pro made my ASrocks. Just wanted a budget board to get his old computer working for his daughter. Now it will run fine in dos. Boots and displays on the AGP fine until it's loading windows. Seems to get to the part where you'ld normally have a desktop (Fresh install of XP on a computer with known good components (Everything different from his PC) Now, it installed windows just fine... but on boot up is where it's failing. I'm thinking the Southbridge is toast. I've tried clearing CMOS. The Video card is different than the one used by my friend. With a PCI video card, it's fine. So i'm guessing the AGP part of the southbridge is gone. Any other suggestions, thoughts, ideas, etc... ??? It's a socket A board, so a replacement won't be easy to find.

Thanks

Nate
