Smokers - Second Class

Recommended Posts

Shutup about pollutions. Go make a different thread. This is to discuss something completely different.

on the topic of separating smokers from their drinks, im against it, its against pub culture. Its stupid. Gah. I had no issue with the way kedron wavell was like, i was there just a couple of weeks ago, and i was fine. Treasury casino, no worries again. Its part of the culture really but if you're going to change it, at least just make it smoking/non smoking. Its just downright stupid if you cant smoke and drink.

^^ IMHO - I've never actually noticed smoke in Kedron Wavell, and I used to go there a lot before I smoked too. Don't know how you've viewed it though, I haven't been there in about 2 years.

agreed, smoking/drinking goes hand in hand pretty much, if they dont want the smoker's taking their drinks with them, so be it, but dont blame the lawmaker's if the drinker's stop comming there, as they (lawmakers) just did the smoking part, the buisness did the drinking part.

Just a question for you smokers. If they did end up making smoking illegal, would you keep smoking and get your smokes from heroin and cocaine dealers, with God knows what else is in them and for an inflated price, or just quit?

cant be cancer as you can get that from the Sun/Food/and other Environmental pollutant's

I don't think about it, because the amount of money the government makes from smokers would mean higher rates and other taxes which the tax payer will disagree with.

I know it will never happen. It's a hypothetical question.

pokies section, lots of smokers, lots of beverages, lots of flashy lights, no real heavy smoke pockets, just a light smell that only the very squeemish or "super health advocate nazi" would have a problem with.

If they don't like being 'segregated' that much then they can quit smoking.

At the end of the day just because they want to smoke what right do they have of blowing toxic fumes down others peoples throats? It's ludicrous if you think about it. I welcome all banning of smoking outside peoples own homes to be honest.

Ohh would yas **** off with ya toxic fumes whinging crap? Seriously, **** off and **** off now. We shouldn't have to quit because whingers like you don't like it.

I don't like people like you in clubs bitching about smokers, does that mean you should quit going to the club, or have to go and stand in a cage without alcohol for whingers with the rest of the people who want to whinge?

No, shutup.

I smoke.

Not very often 5 cigars a day maybe.

It's illegal in ireland now to smoke in pubs and clubs. I works well. Most people dont somke.

Smoking is harmful. It kills.

I cant see why smokers are whinging because their habits can harm others who happen to be in the majority.

Either way i'm not too bothered. But i just like comman sence to prevail. You can still drink and smoke in ireland in beer gardens and special open areas..

Your argument is '**** off'?

Well apart from that saying it all really, its funny.

Were not forcing poisonous fumes/smoke/**** down your throat are we. Yet ofcourse, this is 'our' fault somehow isn't it? :p

Comical.

The thread title is dumb. There are some non-smokers who believe they have the right to stop others from doing what they want where they want, but there are also some smokers who believe its their god given right to smoke anywhere and everywhere, and to hell with other peoples health (plenty of examples of both in this thread).

Both sides need to show more consideration, whether or not they see eye-to-eye on the health effects or locations etc.

If I was forced to make a decision I would only ban smoking from eateries, restaurants and any other establishment serving food, but not from clubs, pubs and bars etc. I would also probably say smoking does kill, but not to the extent both the media and some non-smokers like to shove down our throats. It can effect some people badly, but others (like my grandad) can smoke 40 - 80 a day without any effects.

Well i have read through and here is my 2 Cents, firstly Nashy your are on your own in this debate!

Smoking is something you choose to do, if you want to kill yourself at a very expensive price then do it. However more people are non-somkers than smokers and it does have damging effects on other people, inlcuding non-smokers when in a place like a pub, so why should we suffer for something that you choose to do? We shouldn't have to and that is why they are banning it because of that, here in the UK a ban comes in next year am I am looking forward to that, we have heard about the success it has a had in Ireland.

It seems at last the non-smokers can walk into pub and not be covered in smoke from a few smokers. You can go on about "well you shouldn't come into this pub because we smoke you know that we smoke so why did you come here, you dont have to stand here and all that ****" Well we just have as much right to be in there as you, however we dont want to breath your toxic used air in, where ever we stand in a pub we are breathing it in and it makes are clothes smell.

By the way Nashy, why dont you **** off?

Read the rest of my posts before you jump on my back as if you know everything.

I've tried to get this thread back to what I originally wanted. I'm not happy about the clubs and pubs that force me somewhere without alcohol. I have stated I totally agree that I should move, I've said I am happy to move if I can take my beer.

I didn't want this thread to be a thread for people like you to tell me I'm killing myself, and you by smoking. I know quite well what I'm doing to my body, and other people's bodies. All I want is to go, sit down with a smoke and a beer. If thats in a room away from everyone else, I don't care.

I don't go out to be around everyone, and If I do, I'm generally with smokers. I go out to drink. A lot of clubs are taking this away from me. Thats my problem, not the fact that I am being forced to move.

Well I haven't read any of this topic, only the first post and all I can say is I'm for this idea. I absolutely hate smokers. If you want to go and kill yourself, drink petrol or something, don't smoke and risk other peoples lives.

Yes but can't you see why that is been taken away from you is because of the health hazards?

Then please kindly leave this thread. I'm sure I speak for most of the people who have posted in this thread when I say that hating a person for smoking is just stupid. Fair enough you hate them smoking, but hating them...

Some of your comments are pretty offensive there Nashy. So you smoke and you're proud of it. Congratulations. No need to go and attack other people for your decision. Also, vice versa. No need to actually attack people who smoke. Just wait it out and vote accordingly to smoking bylaw's when you are asked to.

I know I'd vote for non-smoking in a second.

Actually last night watching the fireworks was a prime example of inconsiderate smokers: flicking their butts everywhere like the park with all the people was their ashtray. I mean, inches from little kids playing and whatnot. Have some decency. Then again it was really just groups of 15yr old kids thinking it's cool to smoke, talk loud so everyone can hear them, and just be obnoxious. So that really could be a thread all on it's own...

I hate people smoking, they are inconsiderate for those who don't smoke in their face, or breathing in substances which can give you cancer. You should atleast ask if its ok to smoke around others if your going to smoke. When i was in the pub on Saturday watching the England match, people were asking me and my other friends if its ok if they smoke. I said yes anyways because the smoke wasn't going in my direction anyways, and i didn't want be the idiot who stopped others from doing what they want to do.

But sometimes i do smoke, and my mum doesn't smoke in the car because it makes me sick (i have breathing problems around those who smoke, but its ok in open spaces like a pub, just not in the car).

For gods sake. I ask people who I am driving in MY car if I can smoke. If someone asks me to move away, I move, I use an ashtray, I move the ashtray when I leave, If I can't move when asked I put my smoke out.

Can I be any more considerate without quitting? (which I'm not doing)
