PL_ Veteran Posted July 5, 2006 Veteran Share Posted July 5, 2006 http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?po...stRepeater1-p=1 aight. so we all know cortana says "this is how the world ends." well she's right. we can all safely assume that the ONLY way cheif is gonna save the galaxy is to let halo activate. ITS LOSE-LOSE SITUATION: think about it: MC stops the prophet of truth from activating halo and killing us all right? game over and we're safe right? wrong. Cheif stops halo= flood taking over the galaxy anyway. I literally was just sitting here at work, wasting company time at the computer waiting for 5:00 when it just dawned on me. THERE IS NO WAY MASTER CHEIF CAN SAVE US THIS TIME. if he stops truth, there is still no stopping the flood. remember that at the end of halo 2, gravemind took over high charity and installation 05 (delta halo) he also has the prophet of regret, so he knows all of the covenants secrets, except the ones that Truth is hiding. therefore, he has ships, bodies, the technology, and even installation 05. he's gonna come after cheif, no matter where he goes. thus, the only way for there to be a happy ending is ONE POSSIBLE SCENARIO: the earth, or at least some part of it, is the ARK. think: itll only be a happy ending when the flood is gone, as well as the covenant right? well say cheif gets rid of the covenant. the ONLY way to save humanity is to ACTIVATE HALO AND CLEANSE THE GALAXY. otherwise, game over. feedback plz What do you think? Daxbash5000
why couldn't master cheif just takeon the entire flood by himself! GUNS BLAZING! That's the only way to win!
velocity3k
It's been a long time since i played Halo 2 but if i remember correctly; MC could stop Truth, convince the covenant of the error of their ways with the aid of the Arbiter, join forces with the covenant and then take on the flood in a galaxy wide war. Asahoshi - the otaku
forming an alliance with the cov seems kinda off to me atleast for the 3rd game. halo 3 is meant to be a conclusion....if they went that route it opens up for an additional trilogy of games....or leaves open for the halo movies. i have to say i do like the doomsday idea even if it makes the actions of the MC completly pointless lol
Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted July 5, 2006 Global Moderator Share Posted July 5, 2006 i think master chief should just let everything blow up.. and stop this everybody all together :) halo 3 should be awesome, i beat halo 1 and 2, but i don't remember the story line too well, it was just so long and confusing. DELTETHISACCOUNT
Look, Bungie controls the story, we don't. They could just say the flood died and you'll go with it.
Pajter
I'm pretty positive about the doomsday scenario. Seems like a great, or at least spectacular ending to one of the best video games (stories) ever.

Muffins. Because Halo isn't actually a superweapon, it's a bakery.
Xerxes
I don't think letting the rings activate will completely stop the flood now, the Forerunners needed 7 installations to "cleanse" the galaxy the first time, now 1 is destroyed and another comprimised, meaning even if they do activate them only 5 will fire..sure you can argue that maybe the Forerunners overkilled the amount of installations needed and 5 is enough, but no one knows for sure. Now going by the trailer we know that something big is gonna happen, the fact that Halo 3 is the final chapter and the fact Cortana says in the trailer "this is how the world ends"...now this is just a huge stab in the dark but I think the rings do get activated cause it is currently the only known (and working) way to stop the flood (and possibly as a result of Earth been or is part of the arc, gets destroyed)...the thing is (and I think the flood also know this too) the rings won't completely do thier job, so the flood (and the human and covenant forces) could hide in these "voids" in the coverage area, enabling them to survive the blast. Then perhaps after the blast the remaining human/covenant forces band together to fight the surviving flood (cause remember the rings don't kill the flood, it only kills thier food so while most of the flood will die of starvation many will try to get to the pockets where there is food) and rebuild thier civilizations...just an idea, I'm sure there are plenty of flaws in it, just thought I'd share it with everyone anyway :)

Xerxes
was that in english? cause i've only played half of the first halo if you were refering to what I said, it is probally part in jiberish   however, things will become a little clearer as you progress through the game. It is also recommended that you read the books as well (that been Halo: The Fall of Reach, Halo: The Flood and Halo: First Strike) to give you a clearer picture (I'm currently reading the second book, damn can't get enough Halo :D)
Neo003
Didn't cortona said she can blow up the reactor of halo installation if it's necessory and that's the reason she stayed there in the first place. So on earth MC stop the convenant and cortona blow up halo. Bada bing bada BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOB.

GNRambo
According to the books, If im not mistaken (i probably am) there are about half a dozen spartans left from the spartan II project. They are all staying with Dr. Halsey. Which means, that chief can stop truth, while the other spartans fight back the flood. It would be cool if we are able to play other spartans in halo 3, which could open the possibility of online storyline campaign. (Play with your friends) But that only what i wish, i doubt that will happen. Oh well, Oly Oly Oxen Free [if you read the books, you'd understand]

Screw Arbiter. Honestly, I think they could've pulled off an online campaign mode for Halo 2. If they can do it for MMORPG's, then I know they can do it for shooters. Either: 1) The technology was too much and not possible at the time (2004) or 2) Bungie worked so hard putting so much content in Halo 2 that they had only had 4kb of disc space left. Its basically Energy Sword for humans :p
