porky
Hey, folks! I just wanted to post a quick preview of my progress on emulating Vista. I did a couple small edits on RoTKiv's YAFVC3 1.5 visual style, and made my own Styler port of the Vista toolbar. The sidebar is Thoosje's Vista Sidebar Beta 3, plus I have my own "flip 3d" and "show desktop" quicklaunch icons. As I don't have permission from any original artists yet, I would like to clarify that these are NOT my works; I simply did some editing and tweaking to make these as close to Vista as possible. I would like to thank RoTKiv and Thoosje for their creations and hope they continue updating their works. PerfectVista Revision V DOWNLOAD R.4 P.S.- I've hosted revision 4 as my fifth attempt hasn't worked yet. I apologise for using RapidShare, but IMO this isn't worth uploading to DA yet - I will, eventually, however. porky
Now... I'll need a little help if anyone wants this to be released. I would probably make a pack with the original artists' consent - Style, toolbar, icons, and sidebar. One of the major problems I'm having is the "Favorite Links" section - which I have disabled in the screenie. The best thing I've found for doing that would be FinderBar, but I can't seem to remove "Finder Bar" from the toolbar. Also, the "Sort" bar in the screenie is Styler. I was wondering if you could actually organize folders from Styler? I know you can change the view but is there any way to change the order around? And lastly, in that screenshot - I had to edit out a 2px white line. This line is from Styler not going all the way to the left, and I'm almost certain other people have this problem. I need a way to move Styler over; I've tried everything I can think of: it still shows part of the default toolbar. Thanks in advance for any help - it would make this go alot quicker... IceBrewedBeer
One thing I must insist you fix is the title bar text, it's barely readable. Maybe bold it or something?

Brian M. Veteran Posted July 19, 2006 Veteran Share Posted July 19, 2006 Whoa - that looks nice - im using AVC (i think) right now - the thing that put me off of YAFVC3 was the dodgy logoff and shutdown buttons - just didnt work with me :)
SteVie-G
well that is prettty niceeee :p i agree wiv bmaher on the buttons though
porky
I will definately look into changing the fonts. I only changed a few pixels around the window frame so the glass blends smoothly and added new glass around the user picture. But now that I've modded it I suppose I'll try everything to make this look 1:1. For the buttons, I used a patch to remove the "Shut Down / Logoff" text: RoTKiv's modded YAFVC3 1.5 takes advantage of this, so it looks perfect next to the search box. (None of that "hidden buttons" crap anymore). Now all I'm going to do is fix their margins a bit, and then it should be deadly close.
M118LR
In Vista you can turn off the Search Box so it doesn't show on the Start Menu. Since the Search Box doesn't work in XP any way, it does not need to be there and the XP Start Menu will still be as correct as it can be.
qkslvr221
Nice! Could you post the styler theme here? I was also wondering how to get rid of the main menu in explorer... (e.g. file, edit, tools, etc)
oldaccount1
I think the fonts are FINE. Great job!
porky
There... I just added "Seafom" (Green) and "Heart" (Red) Styler themes, and I've edited the respective frames for them in StyleBuilder. I attempted changing the fonts, but gave up - I can't seem to change them without screwing-up the titlebar glows. @M118LR: Thank you, I never knew that. I like the bar there, though - dunno why. @qkslvr221: Styler can remove the toolbars, but there are also various registry entries and apps that will do this - I'm sorry I don't know where, but it should be an easy Google search. porky
I've updated the first post with Beta download link and screenshot of my progress. Unfortunately the download is my older version, but excpect an update soon. STILL TO DO: -Fix the 1px search bar offset -Fix Start menu Shutdown / Logoff rollovers -Remove text and icon from titlebar (?) -Fix 2px Styler offset (?) -Thicken window frame from 5px to Vista's 8px -Fix rollover on Styler "back" button -Properly align toolbar content with updated borders -Update IE Styler toolbar -Update disabled back/forward Styler buttons -Add white frame around thumbnailed images (?) I've marked anything I need help on with a "(?)". So if anyone could provide me with some Resources from Vista, some links, advice, or anything at all - it would be appreciated. Let me know what you think; I need to know what to do next, so if you want to see changes just let me know. (But please not via PM; I DO check the thread constantly). And lastly, I've considered removing the "sort" bar from the Styler theme, as IMO it's useless and looks terrible if you're using detail view. The reason I keep it is because Vista has it no matter what view you're using. Any imput, please? I'm not sure if I should keep it.

Trojan is just doing everyone a favor by providing a Vista Style that isn't ugly like 90% of the other Vista Styles. nolimit05
When I installed it there was some major problems with it, the start menu and the different elements of WIndows Explore. This is the reason why I do not like vista ports, I will wait for the release of Windows Vista next year :) Good job though and keep up the good work
