I cant wait for your review....im about to order the 6400 Platinum next week.

Your review would come really handy. :D

Aint the UWXGA+ the one with the huge resolution (1680x1050) ?

Do you have any hard time reading texts with that res in a 15.4" monitor ?

Yep 1680*1050 goodness, you can open 2 word documents side by side @ 95% or something like that, its great.

Nope, no problems at all, everything looks so crisp, and you can always increase the systems Font size if you need to, i dont .. :)

What do you mean 9-cell is not worth it? Well at least for my M1210 upgrade from 6-cell to 9-cell it was only an additional $40 CAD. I don't know about yours...

But 9-cell is definitely recommended for people that want to use the laptop longer on-the-go.

Well, for me, I found it cheaper to buy a 9-cell laptop battery at Radio Shack. It's worth it for the extra life, but I think Dell overcharges a bit.

Hello

Nice review

I just bought my E1405 a month ago.

and right now, i noticed that the hinges are weak, and there is a gap between the screen frame and the screen ( u can actually peak into it in see the stuff)

The hinges are getting weaker and weaker.

Is yours like that? or is it just mine?

I called Dell already, and I'm gonna ship it back to let them repair it

but I just wanna know about urs.

thnx

Well, the hinges on mine do flex quite a bit, but I haven't found them weakening at all. You may just have received a faulty product.

Nice review. I'm looking at getting one of these (its called a 640m in Canada) for an Xmas gift for myself. Core 2 Duo at 2Ghz should really haul some ass.

when I wanted to buy one of Dell 640m , I found out that I am not able to install Graphic Card on it, which it come with Integrated Intel? Graphics Media Accelerator 950? up to 224MB of shared system memory .

I bought instead Inspiron 6400 with Processor Intel? Centrino? Duo Mobile technology Intel? Core?2 Duo Processor T5600 (1.83GHz, 667 FSB, 2MB Cache) with Graphic Card 256MB ATI Mobility? Radeon? X1400 Hypermemory

How much did you pay for that? I got a similarly configured (With a T7400 2.16GHz/4MB cache Merom), 160 GB drive and a 1440x900 screen with 1 year CompleteCare (Came with it, didn't need to pay extra for that special) for $1200 CAD (~$1000 USD)

Purchased mine in August so C2D wasn't available yet even though I waited for it enough but I couldn't wait anymore.

My config cost me $1200 exactly with taxes (14%).

You got a nice deal!

I am in Kelowna, BC ..... looking at picking up a dell on ebay but looking at other options to purchase ... could you tell me where did you purchased your laptop ... the price you paid is great compared to what I am seeing out there. Thanks

I just bought one of these a week ago. I went with the del 1305 (i think) wlan, and I think it comes with the broadcom ethernet. Anyway, few nights ago I shut off the laptop. The next morning when I turned it back on, the networking was totally out of wack. In the end, I ended up reinstalling windows. I wonder if little midgets were using it overnight 'cause I'm not sure how it can mess up like that while being turned off. So, I should warn people to not go with the crappy built in wlan and go for the more expensive ones!!

is it all fixed now? just by a reinstall? If not, then you may have a defective wlan card. It's just a mini-pci card so dell could probably overnight a replacement to you if you call them.

Hi, I'm tej Kohli and I wanted to tell you how satisfied I am about this Dell laptop.

A great tool for anybody, either programmer or home user, this Dell Inspiron gives you what you need. I own one and I can not tell you how satisfied I am about getting it. 5.3 lbs. is pretty good,"ultra-portable" as you said.

About the wifi lan I had no problems with it, just worked fine...Oh, and the price was a bit higher, but worthing!

Best regards,

Tej Kohli

    • Well duh. But it's not their agenda, they just push it forward.
    • Easier to move to Firefox, either Zen Browser or LibreWolf (which includes it by default)
    • People do not care. We are all tourists on this trip called life. So many others thing you can do, should do, then worry about trying to protect data collection. Not using Chrome, the most popular, most compatible and fastest patched browser on the market, because of data collection or some moral/political reason....is a complete waste of time IMHO. But we all get roughly the same amount of time on this trip, feel free to spend yours doing whatever makes you happy.
    • Does anyone know how the Ghostery extension works in Google Chrome? I switched to that quite a while ago, from uBlock Origin after uBlock started having issues just working. Personally I love Ghostery and I think it does a fantastic job, and I really enjoy the whitelist I have built up as well for tons of websites that don't serve ads so that it isn't blocking good elements of them by accident.
