suspiria Share Posted August 17, 2006 You don't understand the "Beta" concept very well. Is Leopard even at "Beta" yet? I thought it was just a technology preview...

.Neo Share Posted August 17, 2006 (edited) Is Leopard even at "Beta" yet? I thought it was just a technology preview... It's a new OS version carrying a next generation build number that's still in development. So yeah that would be considered a beta. 7Axxx = v10.3 Panther 8Axxx = v10.4 Tiger 9Axxx = v10.5 Leopard Does it really matter how it's called? Regardless what label you give it, at the end of the day it's still an unfinished product that's likely to undergo further changes. Edited August 17, 2006 by Neowave
sundayx Veteran Share Posted August 17, 2006 hey neowave still waiting for the leopard png icon pack thanks XD
MrA Share Posted August 17, 2006 (edited) Leopard seems to actually contain a resolution independent UI. As you can see most of the control buttons are vectored but the titlebar background isn't yet. [snipped image...] Looks like Apple is beating Microsoft to it. Source: http://www.aeroxp.org/board/index.php?showtopic=5209 Nice! Then again, Tiger doesn't look too bad when scaled up. It get's pixelated (since all the controls are raster images), but everything stays in proportion. Text resizes properly. But try scaling Opera or FF, they look like complete crap. EDIT: Are those large icons still raster or are they PDF/SVG/<other vector format>? Edited August 17, 2006 by MrA
illicit Share Posted August 17, 2006 Another thing I came across, huge application icon sizes: Those are pretty nice.
PyX Share Posted August 17, 2006 wow... just the ui itself is pretty decent... it's gonna be worth the price I think :) especially the price of my future iMac :p

furby Share Posted August 17, 2006 I should probably know this, but what do people mean by "resolution independant" This is a great thread, feel so excited :D
divinatum Share Posted August 17, 2006 Leopard also finally has A2DP support. Listneing to music from iTunes on my Bluetooth headphones?:DD It even has AVRC support, so they can control iTunes?:woot:t:
Vice Share Posted August 17, 2006 I should probably know this, but what do people mean by "resolution independant" This is a great thread, feel so excited :D It means the operating system's GUI will work and look "correct" at any resolution.
.Neo Share Posted August 17, 2006 I should probably know this, but what do people mean by "resolution independent" It means you can scale the entire resolution (like you would with your Desktop/folder icons) to whatever size you want without loosing quality. On high resolution/dpi screens current interfaces will become too small for practical usage, a resolution independent interface can scale bigger to correct that problem. crazzyyfool Share Posted August 17, 2006 That Safari icon is stunning at that size. :woot: It means you can scale the entire resolution (like you would with your Desktop/folder icons) to whatever size you want without loosing quality. On high resolution/dpi screens current interfaces will become too small for practical usage, a resolution independent interface can scale bigger to correct that problem. Does that mean it would still work on LCD displays that can only really work well at their native resolution?
