Maxthon 2.0

Recommended Posts

I used it, TONS of features missing so I couldn't really get full use of it. But if it's anything like Maxthon 1, it'll be awesome. (except the crashes every half hour when just submitting a damn text comment on a site)

Latest version looks like this... Built in proxy is able to patch IE flaws before they even reach the browser. So now we can stop the "Shells are just as vulnerable as IE"-comments :p

(small bug in the description text, where part of the javascript is shown)

I like this feature

does it do this by default or is that an addon?

It's built in. The proxy is so powerful, that I think we haven't seen anything yet. abc@home has already made some plugins which can selectivly let you choose what stuff to allow on websites... Stuff like, allow flash and some other activex components, but not others. This can also be site specific.

I never really got into Maxthon 2.0. I love Maxthon 1.5 but Maxthon 2.0 not as much. Now, these past few weeks with the latest build being .460 I am loving it. It still has a way to go (hell it's only in preview mode) but I am now loving it. I can call myself a Maxthon 2.0 fan now!

Just for you that eagerly awaits a new release of M2... A VERY VERY VERY cool and EXTREMLY useful feature that no other browser has will make its appearance in the next public version.

I hate what maxthon has become.

the favorites menu doesn't break any more.

the menu is stuck on the top.

and the worst part I can't figure out why any of you find acceptable is: YOU have to be logged into some remote server in china just to browse the internet, and since I use my browser for everything from online shopping to banking there is no way in HELL I'll ever use a browser that requires me to be logged in to their servers.

Funny how you are so upset, and yet wrong on ALL your points. The GUI is so customizable that you can even combine ALL menus into 1 main meny that you can have display as a button, anywhere on the GUI.

You can ALSO use it without logging in (which gives you online favorites (encrypted), on any M2 computer you log into).

Guess what you need is to educate yourself before anything else.

I use to use Maxthon faithfully until Firefox 1.0 came out. I completely forgot about Maxthon. I thought they stopped making it.
Well you obviously thought wrong, then.

Maxthon 2.0.1.1276 is pretty much complete for me when it comes to the way it handles tabs. All it needs is the 'quick close button' (same as the one in Maxthon 1.x) on the tabs and it'll be perfect tabs wise.

i'm still waiting for final, right now using Opera for main browsing, and Firefox for bank websites that Opera doesn't render correctly due to bad coding on the site. :(

I have made the mouse action (gesture) "Press left mouse button, then right" to close a tab. Works really nice :)

Bleh, I don't really like it. It's pretty much IE7, it nearly completely cloned the tab bar. It uses its own UI which is completely unnecessary and just plain annoying. It's even more cluttered than the official IE7.

I think that it's good to look like IE by default (familarity for new users) but be fully customizable to suit experienced users. Actually most elements in the interface can be customized, including the spacing between the toolbar buttons. :)

Yeah, but I don't see why it has to use its own UI. Sure, it's great that they let you customize it - IE7 is on complete lockdown - but it still uses its own special appearance which is completely unnecessary.
