Perhaps the family can take some comfort that he died doing what he liked to do.

My thoughts exactly. RIP Steve- you got me through my days home sick from school

Sigh, I'm just totally dumbstruck. Although he has been criticized by the public regarding the baby incident, I believe this man deserves the respect for braving all odds to deliver those unsurpassed documentaries to the world.

Likewise, it didn't occur to me that his life would be ended by a stingray considering his profession as a "Crocodile Hunter".

Terrible news that is. Such a shame for him to leave this world so early.

Very Sad News :(. I feel sorry for his family. If I remember correctly from the last time I saw his show, he has a really young child.

Edit:

"The Irwins have two children - a daughter, Bindi Sue Irwin, eight, and a three-year-old son, Robert (Bob) Clarence Irwin."

Poor kids :(

;) I'm sure he died as he would have wanted to. I'm surprised those snakes didn't get him.

Good journey Steve ...
