xp won't boot, cd drive dead

Recommended Posts

here is the situation. i have an older laptop that had windows and linux installed on it using GRUB as a bootloader. recently i was cleaning up windows and accidently removed my linux partition.... and now GRUB is confused. when i reboot my computer i just get the word "GRUB" in the top left and cannot type anything in to boot manually. i believe i could just use my windows cd to run fixboot and fixmbr but my cd drive is dead. short of buying a new cd drive, is there anything i can do? ive tried loading bart pe on a flash drive but everytime it attempts to load i either get 'error loading operating system' or 'disk error'. I'm pretty stuck here. Any ideas?
