eaglebtc
I play several games that use OpenGL, including Counter-Strike, Quake, Undying, etc.... but I have a few that use Direct3D, including NHL 2002 and FIFA 2002. Also, sometimes I play Counter-Strike with D3D. I noticed that with Counter-Strike, I get about 30fps average on D3D, but with OGL I get about 70-80fps @ 1280x960. Other D3D games seem choppier than OGL games. Has anyone else noticed this?
Toxicfume Veteran Posted November 12, 2001 Veteran Share Posted November 12, 2001 :paranoid: it's usual for me to get more fps in CS with OpenGL(barely gets below 60fps) than D3D(around @27-33fps) on my Geforce 2 MX400 and i get around 80-100 fps in q3a. Tikimotel
Known fact: D3D is slower than OpenGL. (99% of the time) UnrealTournament also runs faster (1024x768x32bit) with the latest s3tc adapted OpenGL driver than with D3D. Whenever I can I will try the OpenGL setting first.
