how do you backup messages on hotmail and gmail to harddrive, i want to make a full backup now. please anyone thanks

Just use add your Hotmail account to Outlook (Outlook Express doesn't work anymore) and download your messages. Then you can export them to a file.

Hi guys!

I just got a response from my local MSN customer service.

They can't do it.

JESUS!!

I replied to her with some tough words and told her that if I contacted the international/english customer service I would surely get everything recovered.

Still, doesnt look too good. I cant even think about not seeing any of those emails again. :(

Now I need to wait until next reply.

  • 6 years later...

Something similar happened to me; Outlook said I could change my email's name and because it doesn't sound very professional I thought it would be a good idea to change it. Well, the new account doesn't receive mail and all of my saved mail is gone. I've tried signing in to the old account but it reverts me to the new one. All of the important emails I've had from my college, my place of work, and from places I shop have been deleted. I don't know what to do. I've tried adding the suggested "alias" to forward mail to my gmail or the new account, but nothing works.

Hi Katherine. I case you didn't notice, you have resurrected an old thread from 2006, so the info here may not be accurate anymore. You really should have started a new thread.

I think their policies might have changed now, so hopefully somebody that knows more about it will be able to help you.

Holy thread resurrection. To be fair, there are people who do complain that you should have used the search feature. In any case, her post is relevant. I suggest you try contacting MS's support. I don't have much experience on their consumer side of support, but from the business side, they are usually very responsive.
