Tried them all, Used to like firefox, back in the pre 1.5 days, but Now I prefer opera, once you turn some of the toolbars off the interface is very good, the gui is mich more responsive and fast compared to firefox or ie, takes up much less disk space, Uses a caheing feature like firefox but uses way less ram and still loads pages just as fast, comes with more features out of the box, and although it does not have extentions there is some usefull widgets and userJS (You can get videodownloader and IEtab) It's also the most stable I've used. Firefox 2 is ok, an improvement over 1.5 but the gui still feels slow and unresponsive and still uses a lot of resources. IE7 is decent and a huge improvement from 6 but still isn't up to par with opera and firefox.

I use a combination of IE7 (testing web applications at work) and Firefox 2.0. I've been using FF2 for a while now as my main browser of choice.

I tryed all , used to use IE6, and now use Firefox :D

My Linux box has FF 1.5.0.x and Opera 9 (although I need to reinstall/fix Linux right now)

One Windows box has Minefield 3.0a1, PortableFirefox 2.0RC3 and MSIE7 installed

The other Windows box (for my wife) has Firefox 1.5.0.x, PortableFirefox 2.0RC3 and MSIE6 installed

She tells me not to mess with her computer but I did sneak on Portable Firefox. And, at least for the moment, the case is even on. That's another stickling point between us.

I recently scavenged her 512MB DDR module and replaced them with 384MB of PC-133 memory. She hasn't (and probably won't) notice.

The good news is that my Vista RC2 box now has 1GB.

I'm a bad, bad man.

I've tried them all. I have used IE 6 and Firefox 1.x as main browsers in the past. I currently use SeaMonkey.

Null vote.

Why the hell do people have more than one browser on their system?

I can understand why you would say two, because you install FireFox or Opera and Internet Explorer is the resident browser which you need from time to time due to page inconsistencies with FireFox or Opera. But three browsers?

Let me put it to you this way. If you are already using Opera or FireFox there is no need for the other. By using Opera or FireFox you are saying you choose not to conform to the standards of using Internet Explorer. You don't need to double-down and use both.

I can't see why someone would be like:

OK my main browser is Opera. If the page doesn't work in Opera, let me try FireFox. If it doesn't work in FireFox, let me try Internet Explorer.

Thats just downright hilarious. Just two browsers, please!

whats the big deal if there is more than 2 browsers. only minimal space is used up. None of the 3 main browsers are complete. firefox is close but you have to hunt for plugins and deal with high memory issues. Opera seems to have a nice feature set but compatibility is still a problem with some sites.

On the PC I'm using FF2 RC3, and i recently updated IE to 7, still prefer FF though.

On the mac, I'm a die hard Safari user (the Gecko powered browsers are just too slow)

Tokar to answer that question basically you may have something running fine in IE and BrowserName but you might've missed a value or something as you do when you code and so it looks wierd in BrowserName (example for me was the other day when I missed a single line in the CSS so it looked fine in everything but Opera).

You could either just assume it looks fine in BrowserName, not check and have a million emails from a bunch of fanatics telling you it isn't fine and how "gay" you are for creating a website that doesn't work in their "amazing browser" and how dare you show your face on the internet, or you install a perfectly good browser that you may not need for day to day and just use it for 5 seconds to test if you have everything looking good in the browser.

With Opera becoming quite wide spread on devices and Firefox wide spread on PC's they are both appealing to markets that you should cater for. They are also so small that it isn't a big deal to have them both on your PC.

Have all 3 installed.

Would use Opera as my main browser (most secure and fastest)... but as mentioned, compatibility, even though it is the most prolific mobile browser, is still an issue.

IE7 is the most compatible, but it does seem a touch slow after using Opera. Even slightly slower than FF2 RC3. I do like it though, shame it doesn't have any content blocking.

It just leaves FF2 RC3 + IETab. That solves most problems, but it is a slow, resource heavy browser which isn't as secure as Opera. Hopefully FF2 Final will be better, as it has caused 2 hard system locks for me.

IE7 really seems the best option now, but it is just lacking enough features for me not to use it. Maybe IE8?

The last three browsers I've used was Firefox -> Opera -> Firefox. :)

It's a close call between the two, but I often come back for Firefox due to its excellent extensions bar none, so I'll probably settle for a while on this one now. Firefox 2 is so tasty in other features too, catching up well with the few features IE 7 now offers in addition to some in Firefox 1.5, like anti-phishing and tab histories, while maintaining what it excels in with its customizability. Firefox 2 also seem to have solved a number of memory issues, and I no longer get those horrible swap sessions after some heavy image browsing on e.g DeviantArt that I had before.

But it's different browsers for different needs. If one wants something good "out of the box" without using extensions to adapt to your needs, I'd rather recommend Opera (which, despite what people tend to claim, can be made to look in a "traditional Fx/IE6 way" quite easily, including tab bar positioning in relation to address bar :D). Or in worst case fall back to IE 7 if the sites you use to visit don't seem to work.

I have been using Firefox since it was called Firebird. Never go back to IE as FF fits my need. But I have tried IE7 on Vista RC2 recently, the improvements and new features are very nice. I consider seriously to switch back.
