I've been using Firefox since the Firebird days as well. I tried IE7 for a while (and have the final installed on my system) but I still prefer using FF2

Tokar to answer that question basically you may have something running fine in IE and BrowserName but you might've missed a value or something as you do when you code and so it looks wierd in BrowserName (example for me was the other day when I missed a single line in the CSS so it looked fine in everything but Opera).

You could either just assume it looks fine in BrowserName, not check and have a million emails from a bunch of fanatics telling you it isn't fine and how "gay" you are for creating a website that doesn't work in their "amazing browser" and how dare you show your face on the internet, or you install a perfectly good browser that you may not need for day to day and just use it for 5 seconds to test if you have everything looking good in the browser.

With Opera becoming quite wide spread on devices and Firefox wide spread on PC's they are both appealing to markets that you should cater for. They are also so small that it isn't a big deal to have them both on your PC.

I didn't think of that angle. I am not a coder, so I would never think to think of such things.

Regardless, though, I still don't think this warrants a response of "I use all 3 browsers". I think the purpose of the poll was to ask users what they actually use on a day to day basis.

In other words, yes, I know you have USED three browsers to check your website issues, but what browser do you USE to browse the internet for your leisurely purposes?

whats the big deal if there is more than 2 browsers. only minimal space is used up. None of the 3 main browsers are complete. firefox is close but you have to hunt for plugins and deal with high memory issues. Opera seems to have a nice feature set but compatibility is still a problem with some sites.

Its fine if you are using them the way AZKABAZ uses them...for educational purposes (educational in that he uses them to learn what issues each have with his homemade page).

But for leisurely purposes?

First off, let me be clear that this is not meant to a knock on people who dont use IE. I am fine with that. This is a knock at people who need more than 2 browsers since I think that if you don't use IE two browsers are a requirement (usually the #2 is IE) to make sure you see a page that may not work in one browser in the other which probably will work with the page.

You bring up that none of them are complete...while I dont disagree, why do you need a browser to do everything? Personally I think third party programs do certain functions better than IE, FireFox or Opera can ever dream of. So trying to use all three to complement one another is kind of dumb.

For example, if you are using FireFox or Opera to complement IE's lack of a download manager, that is just dumb. FlashGet, or Getright or any program under the sun are better download managers than FireFox or Opera.

Weather1, Weather Pulse, etc. do weather better than FireFox or Opera.

AM-Deadlink does bookmark managment better than all three browsers.

Ad-Muncher does ad blocking better than FireFox or Opera.

I would have to say that standalone RSS programs are better than IE, FireFox or Opera.

I can go on and on. I mean if you are completely adverse to using third party programs (free or not) then fine, but I think its a dumb idea.

Used ie 7 in beta and final and still dont see whats new! Now using ff and I dont use tabs as i get confused to easy! :|

Are you serious? You must either be really dumb or really blind.

Obviously you don't use tabs, so I won't mention them...

Outside of tabs:

-Antiphishing filter

-New icons all across the board

-New Internet Options window

-Search bar with ability to search whatever search engine (or website) you please

-Page zooming

-ClearType for HTML

-Better favorites management

-Improved Find-Text-In-Page tool

-RSS feed viewing

-All new broken pages (404, etc.)

Why the hell do people have more than one browser on their system?

I can understand why you would say two, because you install FireFox or Opera and Internet Explorer is the resident browser which you need from time to time due to page inconsistencies with FireFox or Opera. But three browsers?

Let me put it to you this way. If you are already using Opera or FireFox there is no need for the other. By using Opera or FireFox you are saying you choose not to conform to the standards of using Internet Explorer. You don't need to double-down and use both.

I can't see why someone would be like:

OK my main browser is Opera. If the page doesn't work in Opera, let me try FireFox. If it doesn't work in FireFox, let me try Internet Explorer.

Thats just downright hilarious. Just two browsers, please!

i think using 3 does warrant having 3 browsers imo

but if you read the poll title, it says which have you tried...not which do u have!

therefore i could argue that yes i have tried all 3 but that doesnt mean all 3 are still on my pc...i know a few people pointed out they do have all 3 but you were reffering to the poll when you made this comment!

so yes i have tried all 3 but i think if you were to look at my machine at home you would find IE7 (running with maxthon as a front end) to be the only browser on my machine :shifty:

I tried all three, upgraded to ie 7 just because.. Opera i still use it time to time but as my backup. and my main use though is Firefox 2 nice and smooth (no crashes here) better than FF 1.5, I've been using Firefox since the early days. doesn't hurt to have all three browsers there and updated.
