Autocomplete in IE7

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have always had issues with AutoComplete in IE7 - basically, it doesn't work at all. I thought this might just be a beta issue, since it works great in IE6, but it's still not working. I have tried the knowledge base registry edit (even though I'm using Win XP Pro), but to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions? The Windows Live toolbar works, but doesn't seem to work great when I have multiple logins.

My AutoComplete also has the same error.

When I check AutoComplete Forms/Usernames & passwords on forms (Internet Options/Content tab), when I click on the form -> My computer restarts suddenly!

But when I uncheck them -> No problems

I try to delete form data (Internet Options/General tab/ Delete Browsing History) but my computer restarts suddenly while deleting!

Hi everyone.

I realize this topic is VERY old, but I have been having this issue with IE 7 since installation (2 months ago) and have been searching for the answer since then to this very issue.

I did a google search today, and this link was the first one to come up. Allan's answer fixed it immediately. I just wanted to let him/her know that I appreciate the help :)

Thank you all,

Duchess

Hey guys,

I know this is VERY OLD, BUT I found a fix that worked for me. It requires a registry edit, and I found it (finally!) on the MS IE newsgroup. Someone with the name peng suggested editing this in the registry:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control

Panel] "FormSuggest Passwords"=dword:00000001 "FormSuggest"=dword:00000001

And presto, it worked. I've no idea why this worked, and check the options didn't...but if you're having this issue, here's how to fix it :)
