Saw III (2006)

I got a quick question.

Why was part of the film shown twice? The part where Lynn is in the hospital and the part where the detective woman starts shooting at her wardrobe? No idea why this is in spoiler tags :D

I think you may have had a bad reel or something because it was only shown once at the theater I went two--I've seen it three times so far and it wasn't shown twice. Could also be my theater got a bad reel, who knows? :p

A friend of mine said it was shown twice when he watched it too. Oh well, it doesn't really matter :p

Interesting, well I'll go to a different theater and watch it again to see if it was just that one theater.

I just got back from seeing this film. I gotta say I was impressed, it linked all the other movies prior to it together, and surpassed them as well! Excellent movie. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I'm not sure how a fourth one could work. I mean, yeah, the ending is left on kinda a cliffhanger, but who can seriously replace Jigsaw and still keep the series they way it is? What could possibly happen after Jeff does/doesn't get his daughter back?

That what I'm talking about!

The only thing I can think of, that is making Lionsgate actually do this, is that whatever they come up with will be a total surprise, which will make the fans come back for more. For me, however, I won't return to for a fourth Saw, if one is actually made. Now I might do a prequel--if that's what it turns out to be.

I dunno, I didn't think it was as gory as the other two and the story was pretty lame. I may have had too high of expectations for this movie.

I mean, the puzzles weren't even that cool. One chick freezes to death, the next is an attempted drowning, then another just gets twisted. The only cool deaths were flashbacks (guy with the rings, the detective). The movie/plotline had a lot of holes and seemed sort of jumbled together. The brain surgery scene was ace though, that had me squirming!

In my opinion, the best thing that could possibly happen for the franchise would be a fourth. One that wouldn't have Jigsaw, as that premise was getting rather trite, but one where it's just Jeff trying to save his daughter. Maybe Jigsaw could have left him clues along the way or traps already, and we learn about his past and some sort of shocking revelation at the end (as with the Saw movies).

I still say III ruined a perfectly good premise with the way the second ended.

I think is was absolutely brilliant. Did it have some mistakes? Absolutely, but what movie doesn't? They can't all be perfect :p But it is still worthy every single penny you pay to see it in the box office, and then on DVD, and then the Unrated, Uncut DVD, and then the Special Golden Edition of the Director's Cut, and then the Ultimate Trilogy Box Set, etc. etc. etc.

lol

I'm pretty put off when anyone calls one of the Saw movies "great," "brilliant," "a masterpiece," or anything like that. These are not good movies. Innovative? Yes. Good shock value? Yes. Entertaining? Depends on your tastes. But anyone who calls these MTV music video-style, blood-lusting flicks "great movies" doesn't have the faintest clue what makes a good movie.

I'm a fan of blood and gore, but this series is merely a quick stab at the narrow-minded moviegoer with a gore fetish. Even if it's successful at doing so, that doesn't make it a good movie. It makes it a cheap, exploitative one. Fundamentally no different than a pornography.

And I haven't even started on the pathetic acting. I'll probly get flamed for this post, and I really don't care if you all want to see it and love it. I'll probably see it myself, but I'm expecting the same crap that I saw in the first two.

Yes, you are going to get flamed for this post. I am NOT narrow-minded, nor do I have a gore fetish, and I take offense to the fact that since you don't think they're brilliant then we're all stupid for thinking differently.

The story is great, and I know I personally am NOT seeing it for the gore. I'm seeing it for the fact that it has a quality story and doesn't depend on huge special effects or big-name actors to portray that story.

I know a good movie when I see one. Just because you don't find these movies appealing or you don't like the story doesn't mean that those who do are narrow-minded or stupid. The simple fact that you believe so makes YOU narrow-minded, because you can't seem to accept that other people have different viewpoints.

Nice job (Y)

LOL, I never called anyone stupid, so don't put words in my mouth. And I haven't specifically commented on Saw 3 because I haven't seen it yet; maybe it is a good movie. Doubtful, though.

Also, I'm not basing anything on my personal opinion of these movies. It's widely accepted that they use a cheap cut-scene style (my reference to MTV music-videos) with the simple goal of satisfying a primal fetish. Again, just like a porn flick.

I didn't call you, or anyone else, narrow-minded. I said that the movie targets narrow-minded individuals. And it does. Great marketing move, no doubt, but not a good way to gain legitimate recognition.

Finally, I'm well aware of the fact that other people have different viewpoints. And I'm perfectly content with that. So I'm happy that you like the movie and enjoyed seeing it. But by definition, a movie evaluation must have standards, and this series simply doesn't meet them.

Saw is a great movie in the sense it achieves what it aims to achieve, that is horrify people with graphical violence. Sure I don't see it going down as an all time classic, but its still possible to enjoy Saw and other more sophisticated movies as well. I think its a bit naive to pre judge everyone as narrow minded just because they enjoy impulse movies like Saw. Different films always have different purposes and goals and its possible to appreciate them all, even the crap ones.

Fair enough. I'll happily agree with those statements.

In your opinion. Quit stating your opinions as though they are fact.
