[Skins] Tango, Tangerine, and GNOME 2.16

Recommended Posts

I figured I'd post this here just in case anyone is having trouble finding a Tango, Tangerine, or GNOME Firefox 2.0 theme. I've made these three skins for Firefox and they (hopefully) match well with some of the new UI enhancements. Just thought I'd let them out there. You don't have to use them or anything if you dont want to :p

Hope this was helpful or something :)

omg omg awesome! Thanks a lot for the work

Just a question for you, will you add menu and right clic menu icons in your theme eventually? Also maybe a black version to match with Tango black visualstyle?

I'll look into the menu stuff. From what I can see, the menus and context menus aren't with icons but I believe there is an extension somewhere that adds them. I'll play around with it and see what happens :)

As for the Black Tango, I'm not sure. I'd have to see the visual style to see if it is doable. The Tango Guidelines are pretty strict about usability and naming. Do you have a link to the visual style you were talking about?

Oh, and thanks for all the compliments on the skins! I'm glad they are liked by some :)

I have no idea where I took it, probably on deviantart but I am unable to find it

Here is the file in zip format

Ah, black ClearLooks. Yes, I might be able to play around with some of the icons featured in my Tango Firefox theme and see how black I can get them but don't expect it any time soon. I'm awful at icon making and probably really mediocre at icon tweaking :p I'll see what I can do though.

omg yes i was having trouble finding a tango skin for 2.0

thank you very much!!

You're very welcome!

  • 4 weeks later...

Thought I'd post this here since I'm having a hard time believing that my skins are bug free. Nobody ever reads my Journal on Deviant Art :p

I'm asking that anyone with any bug reports, feature requests or suggestions about any of the Firefox skins I've created please speak up so I can change them or get to working on them.

I'm letting these versions sit for a while since they seem to be pretty much done for the moment. I do have some ideas for future versions (such as a brand new 'black' Tango set and matching Thunderbird icons) but those aren't coming anytime soon. So if I don't get any feedback on the current version of the skins then I'll assume everyone is satisfied and I can be lazy :p

Thanks!

Sooperdude, you think you could edit your tango firefox skin and include the folder icons from the industrial tango theme? I tried but Apparently I am horrible at skinning anything. great skins btw, using the tango one right now and have used the gnome one, have not noticed any bugs myself.

that is all I am using and I've never found any bug at all!

However, is it normal there is only back, forward, reload and stop icons in the context menu?

Yes, for some reason the only icons that show up in the context menus are the back, forward, reload, and stop. I don't know why. Sorry :(

I've done my homework and found that there is an entire Industrial Icon theme but it's very old and very much copyright by Novell. What I'll do is add the two or three images to the Tango skin zip in a 'Industrial' folder and give instructions on how to replace the images. Since there are onlly about two or three places that would be changed I won't add to the size of the zip by creating a completely new skin (it'll be pretty much Tango anyway :p). Oh, and it'll have a different color go arrow as requested on Vergy's board. Does this sound okay?

As for the bugs, I'm shocked that nothing has been found. I must have screwed up somewhere to have 'bug-free' skins :p

i'm using GNOME Firefox Skin and the only problem i have is with Gmail Manager extension, when i right click the gmail icon i cant see the accounts

How odd. I don't use Gmail nor do I use the Gmail Manager extension so have no idea how this bug came about. Nevertheless, I'll look into it and see if it is a problem with the skin or the extension.

Okay, all skins updated to a minor subversion (I like adding the little .1 to the version numbers :D)

Changes include some minor UI tweaks that were bothering me tremendously because I'm a perfectionist freak, support for the Gmail Manager Extension (I think the issues mentioned are fixed but I'm not 100% sure. Please tell me if the GM problems still occur), and added Industrial icons in the Tango .ZIP file.

I feel like I left something out in the Industrial replacement folder but I can't remember. Anyway, the instructions on how to replace the Tango icons for the industrial ones are in the 'Industrial' folder. The replacement method is what I'll be using until something better comes up. Sorry for the inconvenience :pinch:.

Any more issues, suggestions, concerns, problems, compliments, or affectionate lines to throw at me? If so, I have no life so I'll be more than happy to assist in any way I can (time permitting. Gosh that was contradictory).

Heh, like I said this was just a minor update for my current themes. I've still got the black Tango and the Buuf skins on my list of things I may or may not do ;). Most likely I'll give them a go and see how they turn out and if I like them they'll be released.

thkz SooperDoode!!!

Not a problem! So, Gmail Manager is working fine now? I don't use it at all and I'm on Linux so all I can say is that it worked fine for me when I tested it out but it could be borked on another platform. Just checking;))
