The_Decryptor Veteran Posted November 1, 2006 Veteran Share Posted November 1, 2006 our school has both. let people make the choice about what they want to use, dont force one option upon them. choices and options don't come into play here, you use what software the school tells you to use (i once got in trouble for using a text editor other than MS word, even though i was only taking notes)
ToneKnee
The IE broken thing with Webmail etc can be fixed with IETab, try and install that?

Rowain
My school uses IE6 exclusively. We keep telling the IT department to switch to Firefox but they won't have any of it. What's worse it that, despite the fact our machines can barely run IE6, they are planning to get IE7 installed on the network ASAP. Hopefully we can convince them to switch before all is lost. Olly-
My uni uses IE6 and Firefox 1.5, however only IE is able to access secure servers (https). There's an "unknown" problem with the proxy script, which means FF doesn't pick up the secure server proxy address.
Lee G. Veteran Posted November 1, 2006 Veteran Share Posted November 1, 2006 We are forced to use IE6. I don't really give a crap though, does the job. Same here. A couple of years ago I did use Firefox Portable though, but couldn't be bothered. I don't care what I use at school; I just care what I use at home, Firefox. FlibbyFlobby
At my university we have a choice from IE6, Firefox 1.5.0.7, Opera 8 and Lynx. They don't keep the browsers up to date which is a bit of a bummer, but recently they enabled profiles in Firefox so finally it remembers settings and bookmarks! :p
zeroday
My schools been using Firefox for a while, and we're in the process of moving to Linux. Pretty exciting stuff! My uni uses Firefox and Linux  Was a shock for me lol. They use only open source stuff, so they don't have to pay for licensing :D
