WiMP 11 and Streaming Video to Xbox 360

Recommended Posts

It's not working... I don't even have a folder DRM hidden in ALL USER.

That's sick, I hope this work better under Vista.

You need to show SYSTEM Files and Folder, not just HIDDEN Files and Folders.

ahhh, okay. I did that, but heres the big problem.. when i click on Library > Media sharing, and click it on, i click okay.. it lags for about 40 seconds, and the box doesn't go away.. so when i click Ok again, it lags over and over. clicking cancel just closes the box, but it doesn't enable..

my xbox360 still isn't detecting my pc.

I have a Linksys WRT54GSV4 router, my pc and 360 are both hooked up to the same network..

Try this:

- Delete the PC connection from the 360 (if it's there)

- Uninstall WiMP 11

- Restart

- Delete that DRM Folder

- Install WiMP 11

- Enable Sharing in WiMP11

- Restart

- Open WiMP11 and try connecting in the 360 again.

On topic, but not w/ the original poster...

How is the streaming from wimp 11 to the 360? I find Media Center to be bloated and don't enjoy it being on my computer. I'm thinking of doing a format/reinstall w/o Media Center on my PC but I do enjoy accessing all my video from my 360 in the other room.

How is the interface from the xbox 360? Any projects open to get the same functionality as "transcode 360?"

Hi I tried what u explained above but it still doesn't work. The funny part is before i updated with the Fall Update i could stream with no prob, but now it doesn't work anymore with my Windows Xp. I guess i'll just wait for the other update comin 22 november and see if that fixes something.

Thx anyway

Okay I first had Windows media player 11 installed but i did not manage 2 stream with this program media sharing. So i Tried to install XboxXPSP2-ENU, ( that's the older windows media connect) i keep getting the error that it cant authorize my xbox 360 while installing, so to bypass this problem, i deleted the DRM files and in programs files i deleted the folder Windows Media Connect 2,( and just to be sure i disabled my firewall, don't forget to do this properly)and then i managed to install XboxXPSP2-ENU ( Media Connect) and dont forget to uninstall windows media player 11, and wmp11 runtime... ur xbox 360 must be turned on.. and after u've done all of this go to the media blade and scan for your pc... and its supose to find your computer so u can begin streaming.

Good luck! :D

Any news on streaming video other than wmv (avi, divx, etc) from pc to xbox360 via wmp11?

Not yet, but it's inevitable.

In the meantime, you can convert your current video files to WMV format using Windows Movie Maker or Video Encoder or other such utilities.

Hi,

Ive used VLC for transcoding. Don't forget to create the batch file. With notepad save file as .bat

Here's what u have to copy paste in notepad:

"c:\vlc\vlc" -vvv %1 --sout-ffmpeg-qscale 1 :sout=#transcode{vcodec=WMV2,scale=1,acodec=wma,ab=96,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=asf,dst=%1.wmv}}

For the program VLC and more instructions visit:

Good luck!
