Gears of War Official Thread

Single-player rocks my world, though. Online's still great, and it's taking me a little bit to get used to, but SP's where it's at IMO.

I agree. My Cousin and I whoop Raam couple days ago on Insane difficulty. Took us a while but we got it. It gave us a great sense of accomplishment i'll say. High 5's, cheers and all. (Signs of a great game)

I find that the MP gets old/repetitious a bit too quickly. It's become a race towards the sniper rifle on start. :\

The part in Act 2 i believe, where you are outside during the night and the Krylls appear. I god damn hate that part

Dom would keep running into the dark spots where no cans were to blow up, got wounded by Krylls and i had to ress him, i died.

So i had to reload some of those parts a million times.

You don't need to revive him. On harder difficulty levels Dom dies quite a bit and you eventually just have to let him sit there while you continue. Once you hit a checkpoint, Dom will resurrect up next to you.

actually i have a friend that's just like Dom.

ok, finally had a chance to really sit down with Contra 2006, sorry GOW, for three hours straight and you're right, it's a great game. very nice presentation, cool ambient music, has everything you'd want from an actioner. i no longer mind it being reptitive because it's honest about emphasizing presentation over innovation.

and in a previous post i meant it reminded me of killswitch, no killzone...

in short, i'm pretty much hooked. the locust are nasty enemies. kinda sound like the hunters from Prey.

I didn't sleep very well last night after running into the Berserker. Man she's tough. my favorites are the corpsers tho..."hominid, boom boom." heh heh classic.

OMFG! I just realized after playing all the way up to Act 3 on the SP and about 15 hours of the MP, that with the sniper rifle you can click in on the right trigger and it will zoom in!!!

This entire time I have been using the sniper rifle and not zooming in at all. The only upside to this all is I got pretty damn good at it while not zoomed in.

Just thought I would share this if there is perhaps any morons out there like me who did not realize you can zoom in with it. The truly sad thing is I have seen numerous screen shots of it zoomed in glorifying the headshots.

Man, my friend and I just finished the game on insane. Way uncool. I'm never going to get all of those multiplayer acheivements. :(

EDIT:

Lol, we both had snipers and torque bows. We just used to torque bow to get the bats off of him and then we both sniped at his face. The plan wasn't working too well for a while so I just punched him with a frag. Hahaha, it was great.

When i first got to Act 3 i was so shocked, the visual were amazing, really impressed.

IMO, I liked the visuals in Act 1 the best, especially the intro level. Then again, I love all that post-apocalyptic stuff.

Act 3 definitely had its moments, though... like (not to give a spoiler, so I'll be vague) when the lights got turned back on before you reach the carts. The rain also looked beautiful, too.

Trong: IMO, anyone who gets all the GOW multiplayer achievements either has no life or it will take them years. lol

Am I the only one who is slightly annoyed by the checkpoint system. Sometimes it'll create a checkpoint frequently and sometimes it dosent do one for 10 minutes which includes some sort of cut scene in it and if you die you have to start from the checkpoint 10 minutes ago :(

Yeah .KICK, didn't like that either.

Specialy the Checkpoints before a Cutscene, so if your having some trouble your gonna have to sit throug the cutscene 3-4 or even 5 times

But you can overlook that :)

The checkpoints ****ed me off so much! There never seemed to be one when you needed it, but tons when you didn't. You could walk to another building without having to fight anyone and have two checkpoints, but after 3 waves of enemies occasionally you wouldn't have any.

I really wish they would've allowed a save-anywhere scheme. I'll never understand why 360 games don't allow this, just like PC games do... you've got the hard drive, and it shouldn't take up a ton of space if you limited it to 5 to 10 saves or something.

The PC version (it it does come like it's been said) better allow save anywhere.

You're acting like no 360 games have save-anywhere, when in fact many of them do. One of the most recent examples I can think of is Splinter Cell: Double Agent. That game has a very nice Save Anywhere system.

Opting for Checkpoint-system versus a Save-Anywhere-system is completely up to the developer.

I push ABXY at the same time to skip scenes, I'm sure it's only one of them though lol.

Just beat it on hardcore, haven't had this much fun with a game since Half Life 2, loving the multilplayer too.

I know there are games that allow save-anywhere... but there are very few of them, and as far as I know, all of them only allow for one slot. The only games I know with save anywhere are SC:DA, Prey and Quake IV.
