Rumors: Microsoft Nov. 22nd Announcements

Recommended Posts

You know how other Web sites and magazines have their own ?mole?? Well, we have our own as well. This person is fairly deep on the inside and will of course, always remain anonymous. But, fear not, our mole is legit. So, although what we report from zee mole should be considered a rumor only, do put a little bit of stock into it. So, one of the first big waves the mole drops on us has to do with Microsoft and some major announcements due around the pivotal shopping period of Nov. 22. Here?s a look:

? On the hard drive: They are going to announce and release 80GB or 100GB hard drives, but not sure yet which one but possibly both. As well as the future 160GB and 200GB options.

? Cables: HDMI cables and prices should follow this hard drive news. Expect a $69.99 price.

? Game price drops: The Outfit for the 360 is dropping to $10 at Best Buy ?FOR SURE.? It?s also a solid rumor that many will drop to $15 and $20 through the holidays. Madden 06, PDZ, THUG, King Kong, NHL06, Ridge Racer (already is) and most dated sports games.

So there you have it. Expect big things from Microsoft in the next couple weeks and remember where you heard it first. That?s right, here at Destructoid.

I'd take this with a nap-sack of NaCl, but it's there and it's got an HDMI cable peeking out so I:pm posting it! :p

man... all good stuff but i feel we arent going to see any of this stuff... except maybe the price drops... MS just made an announcement about no bigger HDs... not too mention how much a 100 gig hd would cost... if the 20gb is $99... that would make the 100gb $495(obviously not.. but with the 20gb model @ $4.95 a gig... you get the idea)

And hard disk drives for notebooks of that capacity simply don't exist. There are a couple of 160 GB ones but I don't know about 200 GB.

The article did say 80 or 100GB now and 160 and 200GB sizes in the future.

By the time 200GB notebook HDDs become affordable to the average family, I will be playing a PS3 that I bought for $150, not used nor broken. Brand spankin' new.

What kind of announcement is this? Bigger hard drives, and a cable?

It's hard to be more shocking than the Microsoft - Novell/SUSE Linux announcement.

MS just made an announcement about no bigger HDs...

How many times has Microsoft and other companies made an announcement saying that rumors of this and that are false. Only to find out a couple weeks or months later they're all true?

It happens all the time

They could just be simply waiting to announce all this stuff during the PS3 launch. I think it would be hilarious seeing some kid buying a PS3 and bragging about it's 60GB HDD and a 360 user next to him buys an 80GB or 100GB HDD for his 360. The PS3 kid would be quick to stop bragging

PS3 Kid: Yeah I would like my tottally awesome PS3 with its huge 60GB HDD please

360 Kid: Yeah I'd like that 100GB xbox 360 HDD please

*360 kid looks over and smiles*

PS3 Kid:

SWEETNESS! Time to buy some new games! :)

Hopefully King Kong, Quake IV and GRAW all drop under $30 so I can get them.

Brandon: it got decent reviews. See GameRankings.com.

Toshiba has a 200gb drive on their product page. According to a magazine I have it's out now but even if not its presence on Toshibas site does indicate it exist or is close to.

is there even a need for these big drives? unless they use them to add content to games as in competing with Sony's BD capabilities, then they're quite redundant.

they will bring forth bigger drives so that people can download and pay for movies etc, but count me out for now. the console biz is really getting dirty with all this carrot-and-stick nonsense they're playing with us.

LOL! :s

And.. the outfit is actually very good as long as you don't expect an FPS :D

I wouldn't mind a HDMI cable actually. I do think one is a distinct possability especially with the number of people making alot of noise. VGA is good but many displays only accept 1080p signals via a digital input so now that we have that and the HD-DVD drive it makes sense IMHO to release a cable.

Seriously, if microsoft is charging $100 for a 20gig hard drive, how much would we be paying for a 80/100gig one?

They will hopefully be smart and drop the price of the 20gig, and make the 100gig for about $150

Then the PS3 kid laughs at you because you paid 399.99 for your Xbox 360 Pro and now you have to drop at least another hundread to UPGRADE your CONSOLE...

Meanwhile he has 60GB's (which is a reasonable size) and built in BlueRay and Wifi, and again you'll be stuck paying 199.99 for an HD DVD drive and 99.99 for WIFI, that's something like 800.00 total, and that's assuming a low price for the 360 hard drive upgrade, and it probably won't be that cheap...

What if we dont want to use HD-DVD or WiFI...ohh yeah we dont have to.

Infact there are ways to swap the HD so you could buy a blank 2.5" HD anywhere and use that at a fraction of the cost and get around 200gigs but yeah. Youll loose your warranty on the drive but for many thats not going to be an issue.
