EA Says Gears of War = Zero Innovation

Recommended Posts

Oh snap! Oh. Oh it's ON now. Electronic Arts Montreal general manager Alain Tascan laid a little smack down on the competition.

What is Gears of War? I mean Gears of War brings nothing in terms of innovation to the shooter... Like, zero. Only two very brave UK-based journalists said, 'You know what, Gears of War is a great game but it's like what Quake was a few years ago.'

Dude. Army of Two had better be the best game EVER or you're going to hear about this for a long time.

Tascan admits that he hasn't actually played Gears yet—and neither have I—but is in essence calling out the industry for being putting graphics before gameplay. I can get behind that, Alain, but you really ought to focus on your own game a bit more.

Boys and girls, here's a prime example of hypocrisy ... EA just keeps getting lower and lower.

Never played it (Don't even own an XBOX360 box) and I agree with them.

From every video clip I saw (Many from XBOXYDE), I saw only one thing.

Same old FPS with in some levels, better graphics.

I take it you weren't paying much attention since it's not even an FPS? :p

Its also a concern that I have. Under the cool graphics the game seems to be made up of shoot, find cover, shoot, find cover and so on. You have to admit, its not exactly ground breaking stuff is it?

I've still got gears on pre-order for when it comes out in the UK, I really hope that I am not left dissapointed.

I do agree though with what the other guys are saying, EA are not exactly big on the whole innovation thing either.

The bottom line is whether or not the game is fun to play. Who cares if it doesn't do anything innovative if you're still having a good time with it?

Although this IS coming from the ultimate company when it comes to innovation: EA. You have to be pretty damn innovative with your marketing department to resell the same old **** over and over every year.

Trust me, it's not just shoot, find cover and repeat. There's so much more to it. Weapon balances, team play, strategies, point system, etc etc.

Don't worry, you won't be disappointed. ;)

EA Suck Period. All they freaking do is bring out Movie Games or sequels to older games, that are not unique and they never will be.

Go to hell EA, what you think, 95% of us Don't care!

"EA sports.. EA BIG.. EA get lost."

..Sorry for me ranting on about this, EA just pushed it when they called a "good" game to have "Zero Innovation".. EA should respect its elders thus being, Epic.

[EA]Guys, you are too low to understand! Innovation is like putting advertiser technologies in games! THIS is what can be really called innovation![/EA]

yeah, and nfs carbon is innovative? Gimme a break. They just keep rehashing the same exact game. GoW is the most outstanding shooter I have ever played, with a new realm of strategy never before seen in a game. #1 game on 360 right now, too. They are just jealous because NFS Carbon is getting mediocre reviews.

From a company as rockstar or capcom it would only be half as bad, but as stated numerous times in this thread, they haven't done anything innovative in years, they can't even make a game that comes even near a game as gears. bah.

EA is right.

Clearly by "Zero Innovation" they mean that they aren't charging the user for every single freakin thing like EA is. Now that is innovation.
