Microsoft to buy Capcom?

So is EGM just being stupid enough to fall for a fake Wii like the 1UP dudes, or is this rumor legit? This is the rumor tumor they put in all of our heads:

Microsoft might gobble up another developer -- after the success of Dead Rising, its looking to open its checkbook to consume Capcom.

We want to know what you guys think -- would you like to see this happen or not? A year ago I wouldn't even believe this rumor as a possibility, but there's always the fact that Microsoft stole Rare away from Nintendo. Capcom already pumped out Dead Rising, and plans to kick ass with Lost Planet soon -- not to mention their solid background of Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Mega Man, and Street Fighter games -- so the stakes could be high if this rumor were to come true.

I doubt Microsoft could pull off exclusivity to Capcom's games even if they owned them, but I didn't think a Britney Spears sex tape was ever going to happen either. Devil May Cry on the 360 would definitely be nice though, I'm all for it.

actually.. the britney spears sex tape MAY happen, if kevin doesn't get his way. $38 Million + custody of both children, which is another 2Million or more a year? britney can't afford to lose that much money, and both of her kids.. LET THE SEX TAPE ROLL BABY!

P.s. it's a publicity stunt.. she'll have a record out in a month.... same with kevin...

maybe this true.. if so, GO microsoft! another developer captured.. and were on our way to #1!

I seriously SERIOUSLY doubt this. And trust me, if in some incredibly wild turn of events it does happen, of course it means exclusivity for Microsoft. If they "Own" the company, do you really think there would be games developed for the PS3? That just doesn't make any sense.

I hope not. It would mark the end of a great company and the start of another mediocre one (like Rare).

Oh please this is not EA buying another company out that we are talking about. If its even true that they are considering it, they would just want exclusive titles on the 360. They treat 3rd party companies like their first party ones already. While I see why you would compare this to Rare its not like a company cant have a bad release once in a blue moon. Because lets face it while Capcom mostly puts out solid releases, its had its faults.

Oh gawd no, I hope not.

Nothing worse than a company being gobbled up by a bigger company, I mean we hate EA for a reason, lol.

I would prefer a company's creativity to be able to go to multiple consoles than be stuck on one.
