umm, in the piece of paper, it doesn't show the hard drive attached, and clearly states "do not add any other items in this package", aka power supply, video/audio cables and hard drive!

i don't know how you managed to fit the hard drive into that box.. it was just big enough for the 360 itself...

Absolute rubbish.

They tell you NOT to send the HD in. Ive been in this situation before and I remember the guy being blatantly crystal clear to remove the HD. He even gave me specific instructions how to remove it, so please dont lie.

First time i sent my console back i was told to send my HD back and was told i would get MY HD back but instead i got a different one.

I gotta send it back again (been 2 weeks now) and i was told not to send my HD back... i said i had to last and the guy said "apparently" you don't have too. Gotta love MS customer support... it is awful, they should be investigated.

It is true, i was told to send it back and then in another phone call i was told "apparently" i don't need to send it back. I am not going to send it back this time after what happened to you.

Its not nice to call people liers when you have no evidence either way. I too was told to send in my HD with the 360. I even had to provide my own box. Its a fair chance the badly trained, low paid call centre staff dont all say the same thing. The one I had didnt really understand english.

Needless to say I didnt send in the HD as there was no reason and nobody is going to get their hands on all my saves.

I'm kinda out of the loop when it comes to consoles, but are there any plans for an updated 360 being released? I'm tempted to get one but it seems like almost everyone has had to send something or other back to be fixed which is putting me off.

I've got a launch one and I've never had a problem. You have to remember you're going to be more aware of the cases of problems because people like me aren't going to start threads on how my 360 is absolutely fine. I don't know if they're already being shipped but I know there is going to be a updated chip in the newest consoles which consumes less power and therefore runs cooler , something along those lines anyway. I say just go for it.

Because its not possible for 2 different human beings on the phone to issue different instructions?

Try calling a hotline and call back the next day asking the same question and see if you get the exact same answer or not. Hell I've seen ppl call dell asking for a discount and then getting told their policy isnt to do that. They then ring back again 5 mins and ask a different person and walk away with a 10% off coupon or something to that effect. It happens.

to the original poster. Hope they send the same drive and you havent lost all your saves.

Like I said the support guy I had kept saying to send the HD in as well. Now there could be 2 reaqsons for this.

1. They are wrong, never send the HD in unless the HD is not working.

2. Some demos/saved games on the HD have been known to corrupt and can cause games to crash, wiping the HD would solve those problems and therefore the 360 would not need an actual repair

im not really to worried about the HD since i wasnt able to play on it i had an E-65 error and had to ship it out to be fixed ( but they replaced it )
