shattered
I am interested in a very good heatsink/fan combo for the QX6700 (intel quad core extreme). I am thinking of either the Zalman FS-C77 Fatality, the Zalman CNPS9500 or the Thermaltake CL-P0257 Blue Orb. My goals are to get the quad core processor up to at least 3.0ghz (from the stock 2.66ghz). Decibel levels are not an issue (I won't be running this computer over night, plus I will be wearing headphones most of the time).
+Fulcrum Subscriber¹ Posted November 17, 2006 Subscriber¹ Share Posted November 17, 2006 If these Quad Cores are engineered anything like the Conroes or Core Duos, you should be fine with even the stock heatsink. I'm not undermining your goal, but 2.6 to 3.0 is a modest overclock at best and the choices you have are top dogs. I think the SI-128 may fit as well, then you can choose a powerful fan to your liking. I've a Opty 165 1.8 stock at 2.6, and even that is an avg overclock for it, a good overclock would begin at 2.8, and exceptional at 3.0. I'm on the STOCK HSF. well good luck, and i'd personally go with either Zalman or the SI
