360's with a Slower Framerate?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I'm about ready to get my 2nd replacement (3rd xbox360 total) after only 5 days since I received the 1st in the box. The strange thing is the reason why the replacement just isn't up to par..

The framerates are slower for some weird reason.. For example.. In Gears of War during scenes where my old 360 would be buttery smooth, the replacement jerks, shows signs of some framerate drop (either slight or very noticeable) when it shouldn't be.

It's even worse in split-screen, and even my friend was surprised when one of the game's levels (which we had played prior on my old 360) really started to chug.

Now the 360 is a set piece of hardware, it's not like a P.C. obviously.. So one is to assume this isn't normal, and that I should be getting a replacement.. Has anyone else experienced this?

They may be sending you re-furbed consoles, what I would do is complain until one they send me a check to buy a new one or to request a new one. MS support is really turning to s**t lately and it is very disappointing. Best of luck man.

Actually it was refurbished.. Despite the fact that I was promised by three seperate customer "reps" that it would be a brand new replacement unit (you'll even find a thread of mine in the past about this). Which was frustrating..

If this next console isn't working at least as well as my old 360 (internally), then I might have to try hard to get a new unit.

Do you have the Microsoft 2-year extended warranty (or 1 year)? If so, how hard is it to ask for a replacement? Mine console is a launch console and I'm also experiencing some framerate issues but only in Splinter Cell:DA, so I think it's an isolated issue with that game (maybe the coding is poor or something, not sure). Let me know...

I do have the extended warranty (2-year) and at least in my case because it was manufactured in 2005 I also get a year added onto that. (At least I should.. Some warranty issues in terms of what their computers say are a bit.. troubling..).

And you're right about SC:DA having framerate troubles because of it's code, it's definitely the game.. However, my issue is that the framerates of my original 360 console is better then my replacement 360. Meaning scenes that were smooth (or had less of a framerate drop) on my original 360 are less so on the replacement (to a noticeable degree).

So I wouldn't worry about SC:DA.
