Big Daddy
I'm using Vista RC2, and I installed firefox 2. After the installation completed, I checked the option to start firefox. The program started by asking me if I want to import anything. I clicked no, and after that there was nothing. The browser loaded up. After I looked at my start menu, the firefox icon was there instead of ie7. It didn't ask me to make it my default browser, but made itself on its own. I tried this in xp and there was a dialogue box asking me that question before launching it the first time. Can someone confirm this?
null_
Yes, it's a known issue. Use the "Default Programs" link in the Start menu to correct it.

supernova_00
It's because vista changed the way programs make themselves default and something with registry keys. It will be fixed by firefox 2.0.0.2 at the latest.
