New Uk Xbox Bundle

Recommended Posts

Perhaps the clearest sign yet of just how determined Microsoft and other companies involved with the Xbox are to see the console succeed this Christmas will arrive at UK retailers next Friday - with the system's two most important titles, Halo and Splinter Cell, both being bundled with the console and two other Sega titles for ?199.

The bundle represents stunning value for money for consumers, offering four games - including two AAA titles - and the console itself for ?100 less than an Xbox would have cost at launch last March. Taking the retail price of Xbox software into account, this reduces the effective cost of the console itself to under ?40.

Although no official announcement of the bundle has yet been made, online retailer Gameplay.com began selling preorders for it on its website earlier this week. The move is liable to be a major coup for Microsoft in the run up to Christmas, and will undoubtedly capture many "floating voters" who are unsure of which console to purchase, as it represents by far the best value for money of any console on the market at the moment. Parents in particular are liable to be swayed by the offer of significant amounts of software with the unit, making this into a popular choice of Christmas present this year.

One concern expressed by some sources, however, was that while this bundle will undoubtedly help to build the installed base of the Xbox, it may be hugely detrimental to sales of third-party software for the machine over the coming months. Handing Halo and Splinter Cell to consumers with their console is a huge incentive to buy the system, undoubtedly, but the chances that those consumers will be back to buy more software in the first few months is minimal - a factor which could hurt other publishers who have committed to the box over Christmas.

Wow, that is an awesome deal. I see this selling ALOT of xbox units.
