Spartan_X
GBP 1 million worth of Xbox 360s hijacked in the past week Matt Martin 11:50 24/11/2006 Two separate incidents see trucks full of 360s stolen Thieves have stolen over GBP 1 million worth of Xbox 360s in two separate hijacking incidents in the Midlands, UK. A lorry load of Xbox 360s, worth GBP 750,000 was stolen on Wednesday, while a separate incident saw a truck with GBP 260,000 worth of consoles hijacked just days earlier, according to the Express and Star. Road freight crime is an ongoing problem in the UK, and costs the economy up to GBP 1 billion per year. Thieves are known to slash curtain-sided articulated lorries to steal goods or to trick drivers into pulling over before stealing the entire vehicle and threaten violence. Police believe the Xbox 360s will be sold off cheap to punters looking for a pre-Christmas bargain. "They are in high demand and cost between GBP 200 and GBP 300," said Peter Stevens, spokesperson for Staffordshire Police. "We are appealing for information from anyone offered them in suspicious circumstances, such as in a pub, at a car boot sale or off the back of a lorry." Fugi
Humm theres no way to microsoft to track any of these xbox's when they connect to live then talk to the buyer to find whe guy who sold it to them?
WelshBluebird
Just wondering spartan, do MS (or is there a plan to) ban these consoles from live using their serial number (is that even possible?) because if so, sadly, as it states in the article, it will more than likely be unaware buyers (people buying them for xmas presents) suffering if MS do decide to ban them from live. I don't think people who bought those 360s will go to the police, first they're dirty cheap when compared to the actual retail price and second they'll be admitting complicity on the crime and the console will be confiscated... :p Just wondering spartan, do MS (or is there a plan to) ban these consoles from live using their serial number (is that even possible?) because if so, sadly, as it states in the article, it will more than likely be unaware buyers (people buying them for xmas presents) suffering if MS do decide to ban them from live. we can trace the MAC address of those stolen consoles when they're connected to XBL, that's how some stolen 360s have been traced in the US. I have no idea how they will proceed with this case and I rather refrain from commenting any further on this matter for legal reasons...

neoadorable
360's are like cars now, you scratch numbers off the block and it's party time for the underworld miscreants. and i don't know about you, but everytime the word "lorry" gets mentioned, something horrible transpires.
