Video Marketplace Status

I just hung up on a conference call on this issue, and I wanted to post an update. As you know, we have been experiencing technical difficulties associated with the extremely high number of downloads from the Video Marketplace service over the past 24 hours. We understand these technical issues have resulted in a very unpleasant experience for our members, including extremely slow downloads or not receiving the content they purchased. We?ve made progress over the past 24?hours, and the team is dedicated to fixing the issues and continues to work as fast as they can around the clock to get the service running as seamlessly as you have come to expect. We strongly encourage all folks who have experienced an error message or did not receive a download they purchased to call customer support at 1-800-4MYXBOX. I also want to mention that if you see the ?Points have been deducted from your account?? message when you are trying to download free content, we are NOT deducting points. Thanks for your patience, and please know that the team is prepared to make things right for those affected, including refunding Microsoft Points where appropriate and as quickly as possible.

If you are having problems or have questions, you may want to head over to the Video Markeplace forum on Xbox.com. Members of the Video Marketplace team are over there answering questions and providing status updates onSource:ource: Major Nelson

Guess this explains why it took me 2+ days to download "The Sum of All Fears"...

A service that makes you wait 2 days for a movie to download is not good. And if MS don't fix that soon, it's going to be a real joke to everybody else in the market.

The 1 year anniversary of the Xbox360 will be remembered as the day when Live! stopped working....

well its good to know MS is actually working on the problem but i fear this will leave a lasting mark on the video service, as i hope it doesnt but alas it is a first to any console and errors will arrive i just hope MS finds a way to reslove this and it wasnt pushed to the market to soon (cough ps3)...

I doubt it will. I remember the iTS was pretty slow the day they added movies and stayed that way until they got more servers and connections in. It didn't leave a bad taste, obviously, because plenty of people are using it. :p

Hmm, if you download TV shows from the marketplace, are you buying them or just renting them? It says "Does not expire" next to it but I don't know if it's a glitch or not.

I downloaded the latest South Park episode yesterday and it took like 30 seconds to get to 10 percent and I could start streaming from there. :\

TV Shows are for buying, you can delete them and it remembers that youve downloaded them so you can redownload it again for free at a later date.

Its only movies that are rent for now.

If you don't mind me asking, what program did you use to make your sig? It's neat :). (Or is it just a croped comic? 0o)

Oh, it's just a cropped comic. I have no idea what VGCats uses to make their comics.

Is it ever coming to Canada is another question I would be asking too. :(

Well I dont think UK will see it for a while, Canada will do soon. For example, iTunes USA store has had TV shows and stuff for over a year, the UK store is still awaiting all these things promised
