Earlier this week, Jeff Bell, the Corporate Vice President of Global Marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business unit at Microsoft, accidentally confirmed that the publisher plans a trilogy of games set in the Gears of War universe. While talking about the ?Mad World? commercial, Bell said:

"The goal of this ad is to establish Marcus Fenix as the hero of the Gears of War trilogy."

In the past, Epic Games has refused to confirm a Gears of War sequel. The developer of the game said the universe of Gears of War has enough material for more games but until they would not see reviews for the game or the community?s feedback, they won?t comment on future plans for the franchise.

Now that the game has received rave reviews from (almost) all publications and become the fastest-selling original Xbox game of all time, Epic Games has decided to talk about potential sequels for the game. Even more, they ask why they would have to make only three games. In a post found in the official Gears of War forums, Mark Rein com Gears is a trilogy? If we can keep making quality games that fans obviously then why would we have to stop at three? I don't see the Metal Gear Solid, Mario, Grand Theft Auto or Final Fantasy series (among others) stopping at three and they're still delivering compelling entertainment content that's easily worth the money (see Unreal Tournament as well). There's definitely, as many of you have pointed out, a lot more to learn about what's really happening on the plant Sera and in the lives of the members of Delta Squad. uad.

But before Epic Games starts working on a Gears of War sequel, they have a great game that is screaming for new content. Rein In the mean time we're working hard to support Gears of War (the first one) and come up with some great enhancements you'll hopefully see before too long. We're not ready to provide any details yet but I assure you we're on the job. job.
